Daunte's rediculous season....in numbers.

With one game left, Culpepper has passed for 4,418 yards, which is already 12TH BEST IN NFL HISTORY and puts him on pace for 4,712 yards. That would be
the SEVENTH BEST TOTAL IN NFL HISTORY.

Culpepper has 37 TD passes, which is THE SEVENTH BEST IN NFL HISTORY, behind only Manning this year, Kurt Warner in 1999 and Brett Favre twice in the mid-1990s.

And Culpepper has completed 69.8 percent of his passes, which if he maintains it would be FIFTH BEST IN NFL HISTORY, behind only Kenny Anderson in 1982, Sammy Baugh in 1945 and Steve Young and Joe Montana once each.

NO QB IN NFL HISTORY has ever thrown for as many yards with as many touchdowns in the same season as Culpepper.

If Culpepper continues at his current pace in the Vikings' final game, at Washington -- and throws fewer than five interceptions -- he will finish the season with the fewest interceptions among any quarterback in history to
throw for more than 4,700 yards.

Right now, the fewest INTs by a quarterback with 4,700 yards is 17, shared by Dan Fouts in 1981 and Marino in 1984. Culpepper has only 11, so he should annihilate that record.

Culpepper takes a passer rating of 110.1 into the Redskins game. Only three quarterbacks in NFL history have finished a season with a higher rating -- Milt Plum of the Browns (110.4 in 1960), Montana (112.4 in 1989) and Young (112.8 in 1991). Manning is currently at 123.9 and Baugh compiled a 109.9 mark in 1945, so at worst Culpepper will finish with the sixth-best passer rating in NFL history.

This is a team sport personal records do not mean much especially if the Vikings do not go far or even make the play-offs.

Daunte deserves to props for his fantastic season. Just a real good look at why he's a pro-bowler again.

The losses can be pinned directly on the defense, not Daunte. With our offense, and Daunte at the helm, if we had just an average defense we'd probably end up at 14-2 and have home field throughout the playoffs.

daunte is a madman this year. he definitely deserves more accolades than he gets/getting.

skol, i have to disagree with you a little on pinning the losses on the D. the O has not done their job either. or special teams. all parts of the team have faltered at one time or another in critical points in games. in the second half the O has not produced, leaving the D on the field way too long. last year you could blame alot of that on daunte. not taking what the d is giving him. this year he has done more of that, and has ben more successful.

You're right about the second half thing, Vikes Can Do. We can't seem to overcome other teams' adjustments offensively. There are games though that the defense is sieve like. As Tice says, just hold serve once in awhile. At one point against the Pack we scored on three straight plays, and the Pack would turn around each time with a methodical drive down the field to match our score.

Don't forget that Manning is probably sitting out for the next game, so IF Culpepper explodes again like in the Saints/Texans/Dallas game, he could very well take the #1 QB spot. It's tough, but it could happen. Hope for the best and embrace for the worst. :D

yes skol agree with the d being a sieve at times. it will be a proud moment for this franchise when this group catches on to what it means to play for sixty minutes and at a championship level. not saying that they cant, wont, dont have a clue or anything like that but there is some process, some rite of passage or whatever to go through and the vikes havent crossed that line yet. but i hvae a feeling that they will soon.
