    Daunte?

I realize that one player is not going to bring a team to a superbowl, but the quarterback position is one of the most important positions on the field (if not the most important) and I was just wondering about other people's thoughts on Daunte. I personally think that last year his game against the Raiders killed us (obviously) and his first pick of the year (I think it was against the giants and it sealed the victory for them) really hurt us. Hopefully we'll have a D this year for the whole year and not just the first 6 games. That should help out Daunte and co. too!
Good post VKG4LFE. I think it was the game plan that lost both the Raiders AND Bears games last year. "Run the ball, run out the clock and have 15 play drives end up in the endzone". It just doesn't happen that way. The whole game plan called for a low scoring game. I'm sorry, but just one or two turnovers and that low scoring game could go against you. I hope Tice learned his lesson from this and will no longer stifle the offense. There's no reason to when you have the number 1 offense in the league.

I'll take a 15 play drive end up in the endzone anytime, but what killed us particularly in the Bears game was the fact that we couldn't get in the endzone. The same was true in the DREADED cardinals game. Both games we should have won, we were the better teams (statistically) but we just couldn't score points. Elling's missed FGs vs. the cards. A blocked punt set up a FG for the bears. There is no way we should have lost those games (which I know we can all agree on), but you're right the game plans were drawn up the wrong way. Man I hate the cardinals!!

    Daunte?

Culpepper has been or QB for what 3 or 4yrs now, I think Daunte could be one of the best QB's ever expecially for his size but he needs to learn how to read Defenses or it aint doing any good we could of kept Ferotte in there last yr and problaby would of made it to the playoffs.

Im not slamming on Culpepper or i dont mean to its just that we need to get a guy in here who can help him read defenses or we aint going anywhere!

    Daunte?

Duante has yet to show the leadership it takes to go to the Superbowl. Last years SB QB's were not the most gifted athletic Qb's in the league. It was thier leadership abilities that got them to the big dance.

I think Daunte's production is based a lot on coaching. Daunte is smart, and has fantastic instincts and reflexes. He's most productive when he can rely on his instincts and reflexes. Brian Billick recognized this and developed a system that was suited to Daunte's skills (his first 2 or 3 reads were always on the same side of the field). The coaching changed, and at first he was expected to be "a student of the game", and there goes the natural ability. This is not a cut on Daunte at all..., other than the fumbles I can watch him all day long! Under the right system Daunte can thrive and lead us to the Super Bowl. I think Linehan and Daunte now have a good working relationship and we can expect big things from him.
Wait, Billick was coaching the Ravens that season, wasn't he?

I don't think we're questioning that, we're just talking about what he needs to improve on. I'm correct in thinking that nobody on this board thinks he has no faults, right?

    Daunte?

Yeah, I'm not debating the fact that he's the starter, I want him to be our starter for the next 6 to 8 years. I just wanted to know if people felt he could get us to the big game and win it!!

    Daunte?

I will say this one more time! Daunte Cullpepper is the best thing to happen to this organization since Fran tha' man, and I wish that everyone would just give him a chance. If we would give him a chance to actually perform, and now that we have got the weapons again he will perform like the pro-bowl QB that we need. A QB is only as good as his surrounding players, and face it until last year we havn't had a very solid team around him. In 99, and 00' we had very good weapons for him to use but then once we lost our stars(R. Smith, C. Carter, J. Reed, Christy, R. Mcdaniell, etc.) suddenly our offense wasn't that powerful anymore and everyone blames Pepp. This year we have weapons on top of weapons for him to use and an O-line that should keep him protected. So if we don't do it this year, then we can bitch about Pepp(Who was the Pro-bowl starter for the NFC).

    Daunte?

Daunte has my full support and faith. Has he had issues as a QB well of course... he is still fairly young and has already done so much for the team. He WILL take us to a bowl and he WILL continue to improve
