Vikings sign punter Bennett

Eden Prairie, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Vikings signed veteran punter Darren Bennett on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1995 and 2000 and spent the first nine seasons of his career with San Diego before coming to the Vikings in 2004.

Bennett has a 43.5 yard per punt average and a 36.6 net average in 11 NFL seasons, while only having three punts blocked in his career.

In other team news, rookie defensive end Eric Taylor was waived to make room on the roster.

    Dang, not Eric Taylor!

Well, that will end all the controversy around Taylor. There have been so many threads about him.

    Re: Darren Bennett is back

think of it this way, he had to beat two other punters to get the job, so that means he was at least puntin half decently, and if he was really that terrible, they would have just stuck with edinger
