The cursed draft class of 2005

Mark Craig: The cursed class

The top 10 draft choices of 2005 have made their marks -- with injuries, suspensions and poor play.

Vikings receiver Troy Williamson has only nine catches this season, and yet he's one of the more fortunate members among the top 10 picks from the 2005 NFL draft.....

LOL I would hate to be him. He will never live this down. I would get rid of my computer/TV/newspapers so I wouldn't have to hear what people are saying about me.

Re: The cursed draft class of 2005

Eh ... just another NFL writer trying to fill some time and space with offseason nitwittery.
The 2005 First Round class really is not that bad. Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams have both been pretty solid ... but have faced some injuries ... Alex Smith looked like he might be coming into his own before the injury last season.
They are definitely right that the top 10 leave some things to be desired. But as players, Ronnie Brown, Caddy, Pacman and Braylon have been solid (and in Edwards class great - by the way I said he was the best player in this draft way back when so he has made me look good).
Also ... after 10 ... the first round gets VERY good. Merriman, Ware, Mankins and Brown are all pro bowlers and Heath Miller, Roddy White, Marlin Jackson, Derrick Johnson, Thomas Davis, Aaron Rodgers and Jason Campbell all look like they have solid futures.
So to call the WHOLE class a bust just because Troy Williamson is so god damn terrible is a little unfair :-)

Wrong. Read the dates. That article is from November '07.

Oh wow ... then they were really jumping the gun on calling out some busts as the season was going on. But got you ... this is midseason filler I guess.
;D

EDIT: Actually ... I did not even read the first one ... I just read the link to PFW ... which was from the 5th. But either way ... TWILL sucks.
