Re: Which current roster player will be a surprise cut after pre-season?

Herrerra also fits the mold of a zone blocking lineman as he is a little smallish and quicker.
I enjoyed watching him play a few years ago.
He plays extremely hard finishes his blocks well.

    No way Herrera is cut?

    ???

What has he done, except survive a purge of Whittle and Rosenthal?

Rosenthal might be invited back, if his free agency doesn't yield a contract elsewhere.
Childress or Spielman said so in a recent interview.

Hicks or Herrera might be cut because the only problem spot on the OL is RG.
If a rookie OG is drafted and performs well in camp, the vet OL with the most versatility will survive final cuts as a backup OL.
That seems to be Rosenthal, who plays OT and OG, then Herrera or Hicks, who play OG but not OT.

Herrera has gotten praise for two different coaching staffs on his mentality and his potential.

I would be surprised if he got cut but it is not out of the question, he also can play tackle or guard and is cheap.

    Who knows though.

Also he is supposed to have one mean and nasty streak in him, and he is a great player to have as a backup.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

I would imagine that $2.9M in salary would be enough to kick the Sauce to the curb.
Although I hope he sticks around.

I like that idea and that is why you go and draft Kyle Young
    C-OG Fresno State.
