    Cottrell's mistake?

ESPN Insider brings up a good point about that last TD by Lions:

"The Vikings were lucky to escape the Lions thanks to a bad snap, but they put themselves in that position with some questionable defensive schemes at the end of the game. With the Lions at the 1-yard line and WR Roy Williams split out wide, everyone in the building knew QB Joey Harrington was going to throw the fade route to him. The Vikings chose single coverage and to not jam Williams at the line of scrimmage.

The result was an easy jump-ball situation for the bigger and more physical Williams. Why not bring up a linebacker or anther defensive back to jam him off the snap and disrupt the timing of the fade route? This play could have ended up costing the Vikings the game and a place in the playoffs."

This makes even more sense when you consider that getting stuffed on the run would end the game, since there wasnt enough time left on the clock for another play and Lions had no timeouts. Obvious passing situation. All this makes for a pretty horrible call by Cottrell, doesnt it?

Saw him the other day close up on the sideline! He reminds me of the guy from the Eddie Murphy movie who makes himself go from fat to skinny UNCANNY resemblence! I was ROFL! Man up is REAAAAAAAAAL defense in my opinion meaning yes knock the Sh** out of em off the line as well AND let s find a backer who can successfully blitz and DO IT ALOT friday!

    Cottrell's mistake?

It was the curse of the prevent defense. All it does it prevent you from winning. I would like to see them stay more aggresive at the end of games. Pressure the QB, mix in some blitz. But what do I know, I'm just a fan.
