Cottrell to switch it up at linebacker
i saw or read somewhere i think it was on NFL total access that Coach Cotrell is planning on useing divers packages at LB like using harris at mike and cowart at strongside and etc. with all the different linebacking positions, they said that now that ted has the personell he can do his complex schemes and random blitzes that is his style of defense
Re: Cottrell to switch it up at linebacker
Cottrell needs to settle on personnel and get his base defense on the field before he starts messing with blitz packages and the like...he still has alot to prove!!!

Re: Cottrell to switch it up at linebacker
I think he is just making excuses so when he lines guys up out of position he can be like "Oh that, that was me using my complex scheme that requires 11 all stars"
LMAO
Ted can you tell us why your middle line backer was lined up 15 yards to the left of center.
Ted- Well it's simple....................that's the way I planned it.
But it sucked Ted, the RB ran 85 yards up the middle for a TD.
Ted- ..............................I NEED BETTER PLAYERS DAMNIT!!

Here is Ted's master plan..

Re: Cottrell to switch it up at linebacker
I read more into it then it is then.
Those aren't complex schemes thats just a guy trying to find the best combo.
I wonder why they don't have Nap at Sam, Cowart in the middle and EJ on the weakside?
Oh well. I think it would be a mistake to take Cowart out of the middle. But at least he has options to play around with and find the best combination.
Re: Cottrell to switch it up at linebacker
Keith Newman starting over the others...now here is an exception to my Chavous thread commentary. No way is Newman the right guy for the starting job...he is, however, a very valuable backup and spot player.
Re: Cottrell to switch it up at linebacker
I think Cotrell should keep the defense simple
WE should have a base 4-3 a pass rush 3-4 a nickle if there are 3 wide and a dime if 4 wide. None of that prevent crap, look what happened at detroit last year.
