    Re: Cornerbacks and Smoot

I say if thats what he truly wants, to not play for the Vikings, I say let him go.

Do I like his play, YES...

But a player that is on a team, that doesn't want to be there is like a cancer....

And I don't know of anyone that wants cancer....

    Re: Cornerbacks and Smoot

If B-will leaves it makes our CB position a liability. He has been an excellent person in our secondary not just in coverage but also on the line. He can blitz extremely effectively and is one of the best tackling corners in the league (IMO Winfield is the best and B-Will has benefitted greatly from him and Chuck Knox Jr). I'd kind of like to see how he would do as a Cover-2 safety. He's obviously got the coverage skills, good range, and an excellent tackler and blitzer. I think he is a lot better than Smoot and always have thought that way. If we let him go we need to bring another excellent starting Corner Back.

I don't know about Woodson. I'm not convinced that he will command all the money people are saying he will. He seems a question mark in the injury and attitude department but if B-Will leaves and we can put those questions to rest I think he should be pretty close to the top of our priorities list. Ahead of Running back and OL but below Linebacker and Safety.

Whether B-Will leaves or not we do have the depth at the cornerback position behind Smoot and Winfield we would still have Gallishaw, Edwards, and that other guy we picked up recently who used to play for Tampa Bay the only problem would be that nobody here wants to put faith in those players.

Woodson was struggling so much at corner last year that Oakland tried to move him to free safety and then he broke his leg so what is appealing about signing Woodson he would never come here to play nickel corner anyway.

Woodson's got game, I don't know that anyone can dispute that. The Raiders were a mess last year. It's health and Attitude I'm worried about, but sometimes all a guy needs is to change teams. It worked for Cris Carter.

I say keep b-will and match any offer unless it gets crazy...... then try to trade him to someone..... maybe even on draft day..... move up in the first round to get whoever they want or command a second or third outright for him..... sound ok to you guys?

    Thanks Lotza!
