Cook could be Vikings' Mr. Versatile

With Hicks gone, coach Brad Childress said this week that Ryan Cook stands to take over the primary backup role. Cook actually can play all five positions on the line, including center.
"That doesnt mean somebody wont take [Cook] from us," Childress said. "But he literally can play across all five [positions]. Artis was a four of five guy.

I'm not scared at all. Ryan Cook is a good player. He was a good blocker in his last season as a starter. It was the penalties that got him benched. That has always been his biggest problem. I think that Cook will do a better job on the inside as a guard or a center because he doesn't have to react on the snap as fast, and he doesn't need to be as quick on his feet.

I don't have a problem with this. I hated all the false starts he committed, but like HEY said, those should subside considerable if he moves to the middle.
I am NOT here to provide good football insight or rational observations. I am an emotional 19 year old Viking fan and I expect you to adjust your expectations from my posts.

I have no problem with him taking some snaps on the interior of the line.

I do not want him playing tackle in non-emergency situations. Same goes for Hicks. I'd like us to draft Charles Brown if we can, I've been reading that he's a 1st rounder now though... he was ranked as a 2nd rounder when I made my mock a few weeks ago. We need to address our tackle situation before someone gets hurt, or simply falls apart.

Look at all those teams jumping to sign Mr. Versatile! LOl.

He belongs in the interior. Not sure why we tried to make him a RT. His penalties should die down from the inside. Would actually like to see him get some reps at G in training camp and preseason. Why have we not attempted this a while ago. I don't remember ever seeing him play G.

He is better in the middle, but probably could survive in the tackle positions as long as it is not against elite speed like Peppers.

You mean like Bryant McKinney? :P
I am going to have nightmares about us facing Peppers twice a season.

Boooooo! He is the worst player on the team. Not even close. I would rather play with 10 guys out there than give Ryan Cook any playing time. I'm praying that some foolish team signs him.

Sorry Rick! Keep up the good work.

Hopefully that will not be the last puff that will push him over the edge of retirement. The Lions did also upgrade their D-line quite a bit. I would not like to have Kyle Vanden Bosch on my back either. Him and Julius Peppers are mammoths.
