Coming to my first Vikings game in September
Hi all,
I'm from Saskatchewan and coming down for my first Vikings game in September (vs. Panthers).
Wondering what the sightlines are like?
I'm looking to get tickets in the lower bowl somewhere but am wondering a couple things about seating/tailgating.
1. What would you recommend for how high up to sit?
It always sucks to sit in the first few rows since you can't see the whole width of the field.
What row would you NOT want to sit lower than to see the action?
2. How many rows are in a lower section?
Looks like there are 35?
3.
What's the tailgating like?
What time do you get started and where's the best place for a Canadian to hang out?
Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this but I've never been to the Metrodome and wondering if some of you can help me out.
Thanks!

Re: Coming to my first Vikings game in September
Yeah the first few rows of the lower level, behind the benches, aren't the best... the price is even reduced slightly.
Although my sister and her husband sat in row 2, behind the Vikings bench, at the 40 yard line for a game last year.
They said they didn't mind the view though.
Sitelines anywhere in the dome are pretty good.
Just be aware of the obstructed views in the highest seats in the upper level.
Large cylindrical pillars are the culprit.
PP.Oer's are there every game to tailgate, and I'm assuming it will stay the same this year.
They're a fun group so look for the purplepride.org banner in the tailgating spots closest to the dome.
Be there at least 2 1/2 - 3 hours before kickoff.
You'll have a blast.
Oh, and by the way, welcome to our site !!

Welcome to PP.O, VikingsSK!
In the lower level, I'd go for row 10 on up on the sidelines & higher up as you head towards the endzones due to depth perception.
In the upper level the pillars SKOL mentions are in row 27, so row 26 on down is best. If you go higher, make sure the tickets you get are for "Unobstructed View" seats & not "Limited View" seats.
Here's a link to see the view of the field from any section. Simply click on a section you are interested in sitting in.

Re: Coming to my first Vikings game in September
Basically:
sitting anywhere but in the upper reaches of the upper deck is fine.
It's a good football stadium, as far as sighlines go.
I sit in one of the corners, right over where the players come out, 8 rows up in the upper deck.
Tailgating:
come party with us.
We'll be right by the Plaza, so you can go over there for the activities and keep in touch with PPO.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Re: Coming to my first Vikings game in September
I prefer low row upper deck over most seats in the lowers.
I think the view is better, and it is easier to see the yard lines.
I would stay out of the lower level endzone, unless you get in the first couple rows.
Sidelines are good, corners are better IMHO.Zeus wrote:

Re: Coming to my first Vikings game in September
Welcome to the site and very good first post.
I have never been to the Metrodome to see the Vikings play.
I hope to see them there eventually.
But I do go to all the North East games
(Giants, Pats, Philly, Baltimore Etc) they travel to.
I hope to someday go to the Super Bowl and see the team play. That would be amazing. Skol!!
Ill be meeting some PPOers in Baltimore, in August.
Should be great to meet the fellow PPOers!!
