Since i didn't see a post game thread i figured i would start one so with out further ado

(some of this is what i posted
in so who gets the starting job thread)

all i can comments what i saw
at this stage is who started with the 1st
    string.
This is what seen when i was at work and was pouring drinks or cooking.

    Sage -
    2 failed 3rd downs = bad.
    Drive
    would realistically have
ended on the first failed 3rd down.

    Same dump passes
    = bad.

    No real
indeterminate to deep passes cant gauge how well he would do at
    passing them.

    Didn't see in 5
    or 7 step
    passes

    Also colts didn't play there
top 3 or 4 dbs (colts fan at the bar told me that)

    AP -
nice to see him catch a ball but transition from catch to run wasn't smooth.
Ran good and didn't fumble always a plus.
    Not sure
how well he did at pass blocking if he was in for some of them

    Sullivan - Looked good
and didn't mess up an exchanges like i thought he would

    Phil Loadholt - They seemed
to have back up to protect him.
Made a few mistakes and got beat
    a couple times.
    But
    at this stage
i would say hes already better then Cook.

    Defense looked good but then

    again the colts
but then again the colts didn't play
Wayne or Clark and most of
    first string offense played

    only
    6 snaps.
    Manning was sacked
    2 times that i senn

    Special teams looked
    good.

    Deep punts good
    coverage decent returns.
    One penalty costed us
    3 points

wish i woudl got to watch more of the game but
    he i got to watch

some of the game and get payed for it
Can't really agree with your assessment on Sage.
    He was very efficient.
10 for 13 with at least 1 of them dropped by Kleinny.
    He moved the chains well.
He converted two 4th down conversations one with a very nice touch to Shank.
IMO he outplayed TJ so far.
It is only a preseason game so I can't put a lot of stock in it.
TJ has pressure on him to win the job so it is his job to show he can come through under the pressure.
I did remember one play where JJ was wide open and TJ didn't find him.
He was under pressure but those are the type of plays a QB should make.
We'll see how things work themselves out.
The benefit to us in having Sage start this week and look good is that it will put lots of pressure on Jackson to perform as good or better next week. Handling pressure has been the biggest knock on TJ so this sets the stage very well to evaluate how he has learned to manage that pressure and play well when under it. It will be a fun game to watch.

And if our Defense can be as dominant as they looked last night..... Holy Balls this will be a fun year.
    I agree Uff.
    Great post.
Next week when TJ gets the start we will see how he is able to handle the pressure.
It is up to him to show he can.
If he can't at least we know who the starter will be.
TJ should look better than Sage.
He hs more experience with this offense.
The fact he didn't even look half as good is what worries me about him.

Seems like some of you guys missed the disclaimer in the ESPN article... Sage played with our first team against Colts secondary backups... TJ obviously played with our 2nd team... gotta take both sets of stats with a grain of salt...

Sage's completion % looked good, I like to see that... means he's putting the ball where it can be caught... the issue I saw through NFL.com was no throws down field... everything on NFL.com was labeled as "short".
He was getting knocked in training camp for always checking down, I fear he's still doing that.
Again, from NFL.com I saw TJ make 2 throws down field... both were incomplete (at least 1 was a good defensive play from what the announcer said).

Frankly, I'm glad Sage put up good stats.
I still believe this is TJ's job to lose.
Sage putting up a good performance should put additional pressure on TJ next week to perform at as high of a level with our starters.
Seeing him perform under that sort of pressure would help solidify his position, at least in my mind.
We'll see what happens, game on!
The true measure of a man is what he'd do knowing he'd never be found out.

One week closer to the regular season...

Anyways, didn't get to watch the game but it looks like Sage did pretty well, while Jackson had a mulligan game. I agree with Nodak (shocking I know), people shouldn't be downplaying Sage's performance then making excuses for Jackson. It is what it is, one preseason game. Give credit where credit is due. And by looking at the numbers, it looks like the credit goes to Sage in this one.
    Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

With respect, did you watch the game, or just look at stats on NFL.com?
You are right, Sage didn't take any shots downfield, but I don't think it was because he was hitting the checkdown.
With almost every play, he had the ball out quickly, and I am guessing that the short pass was the primary or secondary receiver.
Most of the passes to Shank were on crossing routes, not your typical checkdown in the flat or sitting over the middle.

TJack was off target on almost every deep pass.
There was one time when he threw the ball way behind Jaymar Johnson on a cross, and then went up and yelled at Jaymay after the play as if it was his fault.
Replays shows that Jaymar made a good cut and the ball was off target.
Blaming others for your mistakes is not what I want in a QB.
Of course, his fans blame everything on everyone else too, so maybe it fits...

    ;D
EDIT: Forgot to add the smiley, but that last part really was a joke...

    Actually, that is well put.
(We really got to stop agreeing so much).
People shouldn't make big deal out of TJack's performance, but at the same time they shouldn't take anything away from Sage.

In my mind, TJack's performance neither helped or hurt his chances, while Sage did help himself.

    Shocked for sure!
But you hit this one on the head. Sage looked good, no doubt ... and if he looks good again on Friday, it might be all over by Game 3.

I am not worried about pushing the ball down the field. After all, this is the WCO and the progression of the reads goes from the short routes to the deeper ones and this tells me Sage was identifying the correct match up and getting on it quickly. That is what is needed. You could see when TJ was in there he had hesitation which led him to hold the ball too long and was indecisive.

One thing though that I am concerned about is that it still looks like the play calling is not aggressive enough once we get inside the 40. I really believe we should have had Sage take a shot at the end zone once we got to the 40 but instead we pulled back and ran the ball. That has been a complaint of mine under Childress and Bevell and hopefully they will get out of that mentality.

Shiancoe and the front 4 truly impressed.

The rest of the team played about as I expeted, and knowing what some of the matchups were like I cannot accurately evaluate, e.g our starting secondary vs. the receivers the Colts fielded.

E.J. Henderson appears to be back up to speed, I'm really excited to watch our defense play this season.

And how about the leg on that McAfee punter? Holy shit.
Giordano's open field tackle on Peterson(on the play where he caught the ball, see some of you people didn't think he could) that was impressive.

Just got a chance to see the game. I'll leave the analysis up to you guys, I was just pumped to see the team back on the field....another week closer to the regular season.

He was limping when he left the locker room last night.
    Childress has no comment.
Hopefully they don't rush him back.
I would rather have him ready for the regular season.
