    Colts preason post game thread

Since i didn't see a post game thread i figured i would start one so with out further ado

(some of this is what i posted
in so who gets the starting job thread)

all i can comments what i saw
at this stage is who started with the 1st
    string.
This is what seen when i was at work and was pouring drinks or cooking.

    Sage -
    2 failed 3rd downs = bad.
    Drive
    would realistically have
ended on the first failed 3rd down.

    Same dump passes
    = bad.

    No real
indeterminate to deep passes cant gauge how well he would do at
    passing them.

    Didn't see in 5
    or 7 step
    passes

    Also colts didn't play there
top 3 or 4 dbs (colts fan at the bar told me that)

    AP -
nice to see him catch a ball but transition from catch to run wasn't smooth.
Ran good and didn't fumble always a plus.
    Not sure
how well he did at pass blocking if he was in for some of them

    Sullivan - Looked good
and didn't mess up an exchanges like i thought he would

    Phil Loadholt - They seemed
to have back up to protect him.
Made a few mistakes and got beat
    a couple times.
    But
    at this stage
i would say hes already better then Cook.

    Defense looked good but then

    again the colts
but then again the colts didn't play
Wayne or Clark and most of
    first string offense played

    only
    6 snaps.
    Manning was sacked
    2 times that i senn

    Special teams looked
    good.

    Deep punts good
    coverage decent returns.
    One penalty costed us
    3 points

wish i woudl got to watch more of the game but
    he i got to watch

some of the game and get payed for it

Stop being so negative about Sage. He played a hell of a game. I believe that we would have one this game based on his play( if it was a regular season game)

Re: Colts preason post game thread

Well, I don't put too much stock into preseason games, but I liked what I saw from our starters, for the most part.
    Some thoughts:

Sage was efficient, and that first drive was nice.
Would've ended in a punt during the regular season, but he made some good throws.
I still don't know if we can trust him with the deep ball, though.
I didn't see him throw any deep passes, which he'll need to be able to do to keep opposing defenses from crowding the line.
At this point, I'd say he's made himself the front-runner as of right now.

Sullivan looked great out there - he was nailing pull blocks and doing well in pass protection.
I tell ya, he looks like he's been doing this for years.

Loadholt looked pretty good as well.
    Certainly better than Cook.
You didn't hear his name called very often, which is a good sign.

Hoo boy, I forgot how much I missed Heath Farwell.
I think he's an even more important part of our special teams than we previously thought.
That guy is a beast out there.

It's a shame we didn't get to see Harvin, though.
Oh, well - we'll see him next week.

I didn't watch the backups play - I switched over to the Twins game as soon as we yanked 'em.

In my personal opinion from just having watched the game on NFL network here is what I found:

    Sage looked really good.
He made very quick desicions and threw most of his passes right where he needed to.
At this point it looks like it should be his job to lose.

    Loadholt is a MONSTER.
Once he gets caught up with the speed of the Dlinemen he is goiing to be a force.
I feel a lot better with him in the lineup protecting our QB than COOK. :-X
Who btw was playing with the third string and still can't line up without jumping offsides or holding.
He could very well get cut!

It was very good to see EJ Henderson back in the lineup.
He is always around the ball when he is healthy.
I really think that our LB's are going to have a great year.
    LOVE EM...

Tavaris Jackson really has a cannon but he can't hit an open man.
He just seems to panic in the pocket, and at this point I would rather have John David Booty in the lineup instead of T-Jack.

If we can get this type of pressure on QB's this year we are going to be a top 2 defense.
They were all over every Colts QB all night.

I am very excited in how good this team could be this year!
All in all a good showing for a first pre-season game!
God Bless America, & the MINNESOTA VIKINGS!!!

Minnesota quarterback Sage Rosenfels won this round.

And he finally beat the Colts.

Rosenfels looked sharp Friday night, leading the Vikings to scores on their first two series and a 13-3 victory over Indianapolis.

    http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nflnation/0-10-166/Rosenfels-makes-a-statement.html

INDIANAPOLIS -- Even if you don't like drawing conclusions from a preseason opener, you would be hard-pressed to deny that Sage Rosenfels put on a critical and perhaps career-altering show Friday evening at Lucas Oil Stadium. That it came on a night when Tarvaris Jackson struggled with even the most basic of tasks, well, only adds another level to Minnesota's increasingly complex quarterback competition.

Re: Colts preason post game thread

What I saw, one team a bit better prepared than another team (who was without a bunch of starters).

    Pro's.

    Sully.
    Did a pretty decent job.
    Shanc.
Definately made our starter look good.
AY. Alot of reps with no huge mistakes. Looked good catching a few out of the backfield.

    Starting D.
One first down allowed and 3 sacks.
Maybe ole Leslie has a clue this year.
    :
ST's seemed to be a bit tighter.
Still withholding judgement but a bit optimistic.
7 for 52 put return yards and 2 for 52 on kickoffs isn't really that much to brag about but the coverage seemed better.

    Con's.
Can we get a RT that doesn't have penalties?
Load looked good as a run blocker but had a few issues in the pass protection area.
    Cook wasn't any better.
    Second string D.
Let a RB get 58 yards on 5 carries.
Maybe ole Leslie doesn't have a clue this year.
    :
Way to many penalties, starting secondary, Penalty killed a FG, RT etc.

    Long story short.
Not a bad debut but I want to see what they can do against a healthy team and a established coaching staff.

On a side note, looks like the OL issues still need to be worked out by the Colts coachings staff.
Might be a long year for Colts fans.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Vikings quarterback Sage Rosenfels, getting the start in his team's preseason opener, completed ten of 13 passes and led the offense to ten points in two drives in a 13-3 win over the Colts on Friday night.

    http://skolvikes.blogspot.com/2009/08/vikes-top-colts-in-preseason-opener.html

Thanks to a solid outing by Vikings starting quarterback (for the game) Sage Rosenfels, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Colts in Indianapolis 13-3 in the Preseason opener for both teams.

Rosenfels led the Vikes on a long first drive that included two fourth down conversions, to a touchdown. Chester Taylor had a great five yard sweep to the left side to put Minnesota up 7-0.
