A former Minnesota Viking star is entering the College Football Hall of Fame this week.
Ahmad Rashad, who played for the Vikings from 1976 through 1982, will be inducted Tuesday at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.

At least one other among the many inductees will challenge Rashad, 58, for the spotlight: Penn State coaching legend Joe Paterno.

While still going by his birth name, Bobby Moore, Rashad was an All-American running back and wide receiver at Oregon. He was the fourth overall pick in the 1972 NFL draft, selected by the St. Louis Cardinals. That year, he converted to Islam and changed his name to Ahmad Rashad.

While with the Vikings, he earned four Pro Bowl selections. He also was voted to the Vikings' all-time 25th anniversary team and more recently the 40th anniversary team.

I actually thought this thread would get more responses.
It isn't like everyone on here is as old as Zeus is it?
Surely someone must have seen him play other than that old fart.

Ahmad, man, that catch he made against the Browns in 1980 at the old Met that put us into the playoffs that year! That was our "Hail Mary"!

Ahmad Rashad? That guy is awesome.

My favorite two Vikings plays were against Cleveland with the playoffs on the line. It is my first memory of a Vikings game.

Read this from Vikings Update about those two plays and you'll know why Kramer, Brown, Senser, White, and Rashad were at the core of a great team. Unfortunately, various circumstances came up and this team didn't make it to the Super Bowl. But their heroics live on in the hearts of Vikings fans forever.

Congratulations to Rashad on a well-earned honor. It's nice to seem him get accolades. I like seeing him on the TV covering basketball or other sports. It always reminds me of that cold December afternoon with the Browns ahead, 23-22, with 12 seconds left...

    Go Vikings!
