    Coin Toss: Week1 @ Packers...Kickoff or Recieve?

Here's a bit of an offseason debate.
A friend suggested the other day how nice it would be if we kicked off to start the game, stuffed them deep, possibly helping out our field position, and then were able to score to start the game, And have the ball coming back to us at the half.
    Sounds great!
But, what if they score, putting TJack and Co into come from behind mode early?
Is our offense ready for that challenge on the road in Lameblow with the Farve enshrinement hysteria reaching new heights?

    I like this poll.
It is finally something new to talk about in a looooong offseason.

I vote for kick off because I want to set the tone of the game early.
If we kick off, a think a quick three and out with at least one Jared Allen sack (see my sig) would be a great way to start off.
I have a lot more faith in our defense stopping GB on the opening drive than our offense scoring on the opening drive...

I'd say kick off, put the pressure on rodgers to move the ball. Get a three and out and we're in business, doesn't really matter though.
I'd want the vikings to be going with the wind because usually it calms down later in the evening.

Re: Coin Toss: Week1 @ Packers...Kickoff or Recieve?

I really like the kickoff idea.
I too trust our defense more than our offense, and, like a kid at Christmas, I want to show off the new toy...Jared Allen.
    ;D

But, our LBs and mid zone coverage better be ready, cuz I'm sure the Pack will have some screens and slants lined up to beat the rush.
IF we get really lucky, maybe Greenway or Leber sniffs out that screen and takes the ball home with him

The hype that night will be enormous!!

John Madden: "Now you see, there are baseball cap guys and visor guys. Brett Favre seems like cap guy, doesn't he? I think Brett Favre is the kind of guy who would wear a baseball cap. As for a visor, I don't think Brett Favre would ever wear a visor. Brett Favre, Brett Favre is no visor guy. But Brett Favre, now Brett Favre seems like a guy who would like a good turducken."

Emmitt Smith: "Brett Favre have been a good quarterback for a very long times."

I've always been a kickoff first guy.
It puts them in "score or else" mentality.
If you can stop them it really takes the wind out of their sails because they know you get the ball in the 2nd half.

Re: Coin Toss: Week1 @ Packers...Kickoff or Recieve?

I like to choose kick off. I always get mad if we get behind in the first half, and I also has to worry about giving them the ball again at the beginning of the 2nd. I'd rather have that opportunity myself.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Kick Off. The hype makes it easier for the defense than it does for the offense.
How about an on-side-kick? Now we really test the defense if we don't get the ball.

I would say kick off just to get the defense out there.
But getting AD on the field and going early could be an advantage as well.....scales tip towards the defense.
as someone said above, it is easier for the D to come out and set the tone early and try to quiet down the crowd a bit.

I want to see us kick off first. I want to see our defense set the tone of the season immediately.
