Well he did manage to stay health enough to make it on the field for a full season, the last project QB the Vikes had did have injury problems his second year that removed him from the game not a benching

Very true. He did manage to stay healthy this season which is nice. One of the advantages of not having a running QB.

If he accomplishes that, he would have accomplished something he hasn't been able to do in any of his 25 starts thus far.

The only time he's won a game & thrown for over 250 yards with at least 1 passing TD was against the Titans who happen to be 5-10 right now & have the absolute worst defense in the league for points given up.

I was referring to their 2nd year starting, not their first.

Ponder got knocked out of the game his first year too. Difference is, that project QB still went 8-4 that season while the #12 pick of the draft went 2-8.

Sorry Jackson's first year he was 0-2 as a starter that would be 2006

    LOL!

He was tossed in to start after the season was already hopelessly lost just to get him some playing time.

The fact remains, at least they kept playing Ponder all year rather than put him on the bench weeks ago after playing like shit, to find out what he might be able to do.

What part of 2nd year being named starter don't you get?

Jackson wasn't named the starter in 2006 to see if he could salvage the season. He was given some play time after the season was hopelessly lost & Johnson's arm was shot.

Again, for the 3rd time, the fact remains, at least they kept playing Ponder all year rather than put him on the bench weeks ago after playing like shit, to find out what he might be able to do.

Vikings Still Trust Their Passer (Often to Hand Off)

....And thatís with Ponder, a second-year pro and the No. 12 overall pick in the 2011 draft, posting the worst quarterback rating in the N.F.C. at 78.8, marginally better than that of Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez (67.9).

The Vikings rank last in the N.F.L. in net yards passing per game and second worst in yards per pass play.

Here's another one in the litany of sports articles on the subject that Ponder needs to shape up or learn to ride the bench. I agree with the poster above who said he is easily the weakest link on this team that is, otherwise, starting to look pretty good in most other areas. But if he can win this week and take us deep into the playoffs maybe he can "redeem" himself:
