Thread: Chris Weinke to work out for the Vikings Tuesday

News: Weinke will work out for the Vikings on Tuesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Spin: The Vikings may sign a quarterback this week as insurance with Kelly Holcomb and Tarvaris Jackson hurt. Weinke is a Minnnesota native, so he may be happy to hold a clip board for a few weeks.

Come on, there has to be a back-up position player who has played QB in high school/college.
I'm fully convinced someone like that would be more useful than bringing in some chump off the street considering our back up would at least know Chilly Dawg's system instead of throwing someone like freaking Weinke into our offense.

as long as they dont play him before bollinger. brooks is my guy if you havent noticed yet.....

Concerned about how quickly Tarvaris Jackson can rebound from his most recent injury and with Kelly Holcomb still nursing a sore neck, the Vikings made plans Monday to take a look at a few free-agent quarterbacks.....

I think Koy Detmer would be able to play faster than Weinke.... I don't like reaching into the bottom of the barrel to grab a washed up QB.

One thing I did like is Sharper's coment on Coach Childress. "Childress had shown fire before but this was his best performance". Talking about his speach to the team Monday. I too was impressed with the fire and intensity we displayed after that field goal return. Instead of tanking the second half we dominated a good ballclub. I believe we just may have turned a corner here, and have a chance to keep some momentum going into packer week. A road win would certainly bolster this team into a challenger the rest of the season.

Brad Childress said “there is a good chance” the Vikings will need to sign a quarterback this week as backup insurance. Tarvaris Jackson suffered a concussion on Sunday against San Diego, and Kelly Holcomb is still recovering from a neck injury. That leaves Brooks Bollinger as the only healthy quarterback on the roster.....
