Thread: Chris Hovan

It seems this guy recieved so much hype when he was a Viking, but was it deserved?? In so many games, Hovan was being compared to Page,Millard, and Randle ,as one of the better DT that the Vikes ever had. WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those three players faced constant double and triple team's on them and yet still made plays! Everyone knows how great Page was, Millard was one of the most disruptive DT in football in the late 80's( the NFL Defensive POY in 1989 ), and Randle was one of the most productive DT in the 1990's. Those guys took over games,got double digit's in sacks, and were well deserving of the media attention they recieved. Hovan on the other hand, never produced like they did. It was a great day for the Minnesota Vikings when he signed in Tampa Bay. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd just like to know what was so special about this guy.

Everoyne on here will tell ya he was overhyped..

Never was that special.. Just benifited from playing next to Randle his rookie year.. And everyone thought he would pan out..

I actually hear he is playing pretty decent in T.B though.. Good for him.. I liked the guy.. He took so much shizz it was just sick.. He just went out and gave 110 percent and that's all I ask from a player

He is just getting over steroid withdrawal...LOL!!!

He's nothing special - an average DT at best. He's not even a Kevin Williams, much less a Randle, Millard, or Page.

A lot of people are saying he had a great year in Tampa, I do not understand how that can be.

Thats what I have read and heard also, he had a fantastic year down in Tampa Bay...

I really think his play went down hill in Minny because of the fact, he wasn't happy and wasn't being played to his strengths...

I really liked Hovan in the beginging, his motor never stopped...

But something happened....

Glad to see he's somewhere that seems to fit him..........

I think they said he had a great season, because maybe he actually played the whole season. He was very much over hyped, he had good work ethic at the beginning of his career, but I think he ran his mouth off to much with that whole Brett Favre thing, and never backed it up.. Trust me, I wish he would have backed it up, and then some..

He did good at NT for being a smaller guy.. Pat Williams only had 1 and a half sacks and ppl wanted him to be in the pro bowl?

0 sacks,sounds about right! It was funny to hear that he sat in the corner of the Viking locker room in Green Bay, when we beat the Pack in the playoffs, and cried! Not because the Vikes won,but 'cause he didn't play in the game. Hell,the team didn't even suit him up that day!!! The Vikes decided to play S.Johnson in his place.A "undrafted rookie free agent" got the nod before the "TOUGH" Hovan!!

hovan sucked and will forever suck.
