I still think Tice is a great coach, and I think it's only a matter of time until he gets another HC gig."singersp" wrote:
Considering he was cast into the role prematurely without the benefit of being a coordinator first, plus the fact that he had one of the cheapest coaching staffs that Red's budget called for, I'd say he did alright those years."midgensa" wrote:
I am actually a Tice guy and kind of wanted to keep him around. BUT ... he only had a winning season TWO out of four years ... and in both 9-7 seasons he missed the playoffs with late season losses that absolutely should not have happened."Schutz" wrote:

Meh.....
;D
Wonder what he was thinking?
a.
Why can't we win on the road?
b.
Why can't we win on natural turf?
c.
Did he really mean it when he said my job was safe?
d.
Why didn't I just stick to playing ball?
b. Why do I get paid so little..
c. Beating Green Bay in the Playoffs was great
d. I wish I had a rookie phenom RB saving my job.
e. I bet I don't get fired after having three winning seasons out of four.
I can see why someone would want to go in a different direction. But like I said ... I wanted to keep him around.
It would have been nice to see what he could have done with a better coaching staff & Wilf's purse strings.
Why do you think the Chiller didn't keep a single one from Tice's staff? That's what Tice had to work with. Childress went 6-10 with his hand selected staff. How far do you think he would have went with Tice's?
He has a decent track record and after spending these years in Jacksonville as the "assistant" HC will interest teams.
I'm guessing all it would take is Jacksonville to make it to the AFC championship or the SB since teams love to hire coaches from teams that get that far.
I think it would be really funny/great if Tice ended up taking a HC job with the Lions or Bears if they have some more bad seasons and dump their coaches again.

"The OL line is the most important thing to build an offense around. Even an idiot like me knows that. Only a fool would gather great skill players and not have a line that can block for them"

I'm convinced that Childress is from another planet, he looks eerily similar to some of the Roswell depictions.
