Childress wants 20 to 30 carries for Peterson
CHICAGO -- Vikings coach Brad Childress told ESPN's announcers in a production meeting Sunday night that he wants Adrian Peterson to get 20 to 30 rushing attempts in Monday night's game against Chicago and that he also wants Brett Favre to throw 20 to 30 passes...Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

Re: Childress wants 20 to 30 carries for Peterson
I had to laugh when I read this. Basically he is saying that he wants to run the ball somewhere between 40% and 60% of the plays. Isn't that pretty much the game plan EVERY game? If not, it should be...
This is a nice example of running with a story. The headline wouldn't even make sense if they weren't trying to launch off from the "checking out of runs" story from this last week.Zeus wrote:

Re:Childress wants 20 to 30 carries for Peterson
the AP ratio!
I think most Viking fans would like to see close to 30 carries per game for AD. Over his career more carries = more ypcWhy must you defend everything this FO does....to the point of making your self look like a yes man.

Telling everyone our game plan... Childress is shear genius. He's just playing mind-games with everyone. I bet Peterson only gets 4 carries.
Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Re:Childress wants 20 to 30 carries for Peterson
To me this is just a bit of psychological warfare with his prom queen QB. If Brad goes public with the game plan via the media and Brett does a ton of line checks to pass plays, he is vindicated if he pulls him (or attempts to do so).
I think that this is the game plan each week. As I was watching ESPN, the ticker was showing that over the last five weeks we have not given the ball to AP in the 20 carry neighborhood.
All we need is to smash the Bears in the mouth. We don't need to get cute and chuck the ball all over the field. If we have any success in the passing game tonight, I would like to see it come from Shiancoe, and Chester or AP in the screen game.
Either way we need to see the O Line maul the Bears and the rest will take care of itself.

Re:Childress wants 20 to 30 carries for Peterson
Great. Now we have the "Peterson percentage." Shouldn't we be trying to get arguably the best running back in the NFL 20-30 carries a game every game? *sigh*

Re:Childress wants 20 to 30 carries for Peterson
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and make a bold prediction and say Peterson goes for 29 att, 313 yards, 4 TD. :woohoo:
I've only had one beer, and after reading that, if I were to read someone else predicting that, I may wonder what they were smoking. :woohoo:542cbf305f333b0554e8ffa937f852d6

I wonder if Childress thought this up all by himself.

Laughing at all the people who only read the headline, not the story.
Childress also said that he wanted Favre to throw 20 to 30 times. So basically he is saying he wants a balanced offense...Zeus wrote:
