Childress, Vikings wasting their star
Childress, Vikings wasting their star
This might have been the final straw: Last possession, nearly two minutes left, winnable game, 64 yards to go  and the best player in the NFL is standing on the sideline, watching his teammates fumble away their last chance.

Says quite a lot in that one sentenceBut under Childress, the whole has never equaled the sum of the parts. That’s called underachieving. It’s also called bad coaching.Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

He is a beast and plays to win.
However, sometimes you have to look at it wisely.
Yes true, Chester Taylor fumbled on our last offensive play to seal the victory for the Bucs.
The problem is who is to say that AP wouldn't have fumbled on that play?
AP has a big history of fumbles since he has been in the league.
That said, would you rather have someone that is more sure handed and better coming out of the backfield in this scenerio?
I am sorry but Taylor is the better person to have in that situation because he is more talented at blocking and coming out of the backfiled in catching passes.
Not to say that AP wouldn't have been able to handle that situation.
I would hope he could and would have.
The question is:
Is Taylor better in that situation than AP?
I think at this time he is.
As for the rest of the 4th quarter I agree AP should have been used some but the Vikes didn't really have the ball that much in the entire second half.
Maybe next time they are in this situation they will use AP and let him prove he can be the one to handle it.

You can scream it for almost 3 straight years... but only when some hack comes along and writes an article about it, do people actually listen...

Re: Childress, Vikings wasting their star
You're Fucking joking right!!!?
We get the ball back with 1:55 left, first play Bobby Wade gets called for offensive pass int...10 yards so it is now 1st and 20....second play...SACK -8 yards....2nd and 28.............
So 1:48 left second and 28 Adrian Peterson has dropped a huge pass earlier in the game, a few weeks before C. taylor is our Leading WR.......they throw an 11 yard pass to Taylor to pick up some yards he catches it and fumbles.....game over.
This writer is a moron. You are going to blame Childress for having his running back out on 2nd and ~30 under 2 minutes, when the play he designed picked up 11 yards MINIMUM except C.Taylor fumbled.....how is that the coaches fault? If you promise to be smarter, I will promise to be nicer.
My posts are worth 6 of yours.

Re: Childress, Vikings wasting their star
I didn't think it was a bad choice to keep AD on the sidelines on 2nd and 28. Chester Taylor is a better back when it comes to the receiving part and it's obvious that we shouldn't pass in a situation like that. This might have been the final straw: Last possession, nearly two minutes left, winnable game, 64 yards to go  and the best player in the NFL is standing on the sideline, watching his teammates fumble away their last chance.

Eh ... good points. I can see where both sides are coming from though. I guess on 2nd and 28 you are not really screaming to have Adrian in there, but he does have a much better shot at busting a screen wide open than Chester. You're Fucking joking right!!!?

Re: Childress, Vikings wasting their star
I always believe in getting the ball into the hands of your playmakers. That is why I thought it was ridiculous when we had Randy Moss not to throw to him more. And the same with AP.
Also, I am a big fan of getting the ball to the guy who is warmed up already. How many times have we seen a guy come off the bench "cold" and he fumbles. It happens all the time.
So, yes, that article is correct.
Childress is gone if we don't win at least 9 games.
