I see our buddy McMahon is working out with the Browns....Rookie Tarvaris Jackson has been impressive in the preseason and he leapfrogged Mike McMahon for the backup job early in camp before McMahon was released.
Childress says he'll wait and see what evolves this week and what he's comfortable with as the opener gets closer.
It's so nice to see him nowhere near the purple and gold.

Re: Childress, Vikings Not Naming Backup QB Just Yet
really it doesnt matter who is #2 and who is #3. BJ is the number one and the other two, t-jack and bollinger, will be 2A and 2B
We're bringing purple back.

Re: Childress, Vikings Not Naming Backup QB Just Yet
The Vikings QB situation is not typical of all teams this season. I happen to think that coach Childress would currently see Tavaris Jackson as someone who will hopefully succeed Brad Johnson one day. Weather or not he would get the start if #14 got injured, however, is another matter entirely! He looks good so far, but coach may not think he's ready if it happened too soon.

I personally think that by not naming a #2 is a good thing, because it will keep both of our backup quarterbacks working to get that #2 position and it also says that just because a person might have more playing expertise if the other person is playing better he is going to play him.
On Mike McMahon I feel there is only one team he should ever play for and those colors are green and gold, a perfect fit for both, a sucks that team deserves a player that sucks.

At the end of the day . . . does it really matter?
IF #1 goes down & #2 doesn't get the job done . . . here comes #3.
I find it funny that someone in the press found this worth writing about.

Fact is, there are a bunch of teams going in to the regular season with only 2 qb's total. Anyway, who cares who the #2 guy is right now? We all know TJax is gonna be the man in a year or two...

Re: Childress, Vikings Not Naming Backup QB Just Yet
Bollinger was a good pickup for us. He's steady and reliable...similar to B. Johnson. He's not flashy, not fleet of foot, but he was pretty solid in NY last year with that terrible team. A significant improvement over McMahon and O'Sullivan.
I am a dipshit!!!

Re: Childress, Vikings Not Naming Backup QB Just Yet
I think we can all agree that if BJ goes down we're pretty much screwed!
I have been very impressed with Jackson but I dont want to see him taking many...if any snaps this year.
I am a firm believer that a year of learning the QB position is huge in the NFL.
Brooks, I'm sorry, if it rests on your shoulders we're screwed!
So here's hoping to see Johnson make it through the year injury free
