Re: Childress steers blame away from system

What bothers me the most about the offensive "system" is that after one full season, not even the seasoned veterans have grasped it yet.

Just how complicated is it that after 19 games plus training camp & multiple practices, the players don't have a handle on it yet?

And what does that say about the new faces we bring in here during the offseason? Will it take them a year or two to get a handle on it as well?

When all the time is finally invested in them to grasp the "system" how many might get lost to F/A?

"I know it's a kick-ass offense when it's executed properly," Childress said. "It's been done with all different levels of people and personnel. But I'm not shaken. It's a multiple system that you can run in just as easily as you can throw it, and we need to become better at it. That's my job."

I have given Childress the benefit of being a new coach all season and am not ready to give him the boot yet.
Give the guy a chance to prove himeself but with his quote above; I interpret that he didn't do his job here for us.

Get him a chance to develop his talent through more FAs and drafts.

One of the reasons why a coach gets a few years to prove himself is that it takes some time to bring in players. He still has someone elses team trying to fit his system. He needs to get a chance to build his own team to fit his system

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Re: Childress steers blame away from system

I'm all for giving Childress time to get his crap together but he bothers me more every day.
It's his responsibility to prepare these guys to execute on gameday.
It's his responisibilty to put them in postition to be successful.
I assume it's his "kickass" offense that calls for 3 yd routes on every third down and 4 yds or further to go.
Either it's on him or we have collectively the dumbest group of receivers and QBs ever assembled- which ultimately comes back to him because he has had 14 weeks to teach them.
The guy has never called plays in the NFL.
He has never been a head coach at any level.
Where is the credibility that this offense is kickass?
The only thing we as fans can base our opinions on is the fact that this is the lowest scoring Vikings team I've ever witnessed.
Quit talking about offense and start producing or get someone in here who can help with the offense.
Don't tell us it's great when anyone can see it's atrocious and basically counterproductive.
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity by definition.

I hope to God he really knows what he's doing but we'll believe it when we see the results.
If things don't improve, I hope his ego doesn't prevent him form bringing in an offensive guy who can put us in position to put points on the board again.

Wow, imagine finding this old thread.
I was on the Fire Childress band wagon.
I said he had no business coaching in the NFL.
Even went as far as saying bring Tice back, ha ha.

I have to give him credit for getting Favre here.
He finally has a quarterback to run his kick ass offense.
We all laughed at that phraze many times.
    I am not laughing now.
    The offense is kick ass.

I am officially off the fire Childress band wagon.
    I am
not quite on the give him an extension band wagon though.
