Childress showing a different side as he enters second season
Childress showing a different side as he enters second season

The Associated Press - Thursday, July 19, 2007
The everlasting image from Brad Childress's first season coaching the Minnesota Vikings featured a stone face, a laminated chart and a low number next to Minnesota's name on the mini-scoreboard in the upper corner of the television screen....

"If at first you don't succeed, parachuting is not for you"

Thank God he is changing his public image, catering to the morons.
There is nothing worse than having a stone-faced coach on the sidelines,
Screw Bud Grant and Tom Landry, they knew nothing about football when they were coaching...it was obvious by the way they looked on the sidelines.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

Re: Childress showing a different side as he enters second season
I don't think he'll find too many who will disagree with that one.
When asked then what he would've done differently, he replied flatly, "Probably call better plays."
Hopefully, he'll let the OC make some calls this year. The problem with that is did Childress hire Bevell as a token OC or can he actually call some good plays?

I am still of a mind that the Chiller called the plays last year for 2 reasons 1) Bevell needed to learn the KAO and 2) All the flack for a bad offense was put on the Chiller and not Bevell.I don't think he'll find too many who will disagree with that one.

Well your limited in your response when asked that.
What would you have done better?
I would have forced my team to execute my plays......
Just doesnt work. It was a safe answer. If you promise to be smarter, I will promise to be nicer.
My posts are worth 6 of yours.

Re: Childress showing a different side as he enters second season
The Chiller will losen up more this year cause he's already installed the KAO, has a better understanding of his personnel and
therefore has a little bit less stress. He is showing that he is evolving and growing into his job. He can now focus on public relations and has confidence in his supporting coaching staff. I believe he is gonna take this team where we all want to go....

You cant continuely call plays your players cant execute. Change the plays or change the players.
Childress doesnt have a different side. What you see is what you get.
