Childress offers boost on last step to citizenship

Anthony Herrera recently became a U.S. citizen, and Brad Childress provided more than just moral support to the Vikings lineman.

Especially after hearing Childress talk about being a Dad to his own kids and a father figure to his players. It really makes me see Childress differently. I always liked him but wih he would be more open and let people see what he was about. Glad to see this side of him.

I can't agree with everything Childress has done since taking over but I do think highly of him as a person and a football coach, what he believes in and what he's all about. I couldn't be more happy with who Ziggy hired, I believe because of Childress this franchise is moving in very good direction and I don't believe I've ever felt as comfortble with any other coach in my time as a fan. Of course I could be somewhat biased because I believe in many of same things as he does. Some questions are still unaswered but he is still early in his tenure.

It's cool that he acompanied Herrera, Herrera himself is a guy who I like, a guy left from the Tice era who is mere image of what Childress likes in a player. Herrera has that tenacity and energy you like to see. I'm glad he was able to devolop and now he's signed for the long term.

It's true that Chilly is better than his reputation when it comes to personnel management.

    This one was funny too:

"We got lost," Childress said. "I knew Anthony had messed something up when we pulled into this neighborhood and he turned around. We were sitting there when I decided to plug the directions into my Navigator. A different route came up, so I said, 'OK, you follow me.' "

Brad Childress, Kick-Ass Leader, saved the day.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

    From the comments section

    That IS a coach!
Yes, we want him to win us a Super Bowl, but some stories need to be told and this was one of them............... When I was in Iraq in 05 a soldier I knew went on a convoy to get sworn in as an American. While coming back from that his truck was hit by an IED (roadside bomb) and he died. He was an American three hours............ some stories need to be told...............
    Amen my friend, amen.

I'm so glad I went. It was such a nice respite, to see those people so happy about what most of us take for granted."
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

He would probably be hugely popular as a coach in San Diego the way it sounds.

Great story, congratulations to Herrera on his big day and Coach Childress for being a class act.
Hope we will see more stories popping up like this for the Vikings this season.
