Well I do recall one veteran starter by the name of Robert Ferguson who came here & dropped several passes earlier in the season, but then turned it around & has been solid ever since.

I also recall both Wade & Rice dropping several passes early in the season as well.

Forget what? They improved but he is still doing it so what is your point? If he had dropped them early and started catching them now you would be correct but he is still dropping passes and fumbling now. No forgetting there.

And the balls be is dropping are easy catches right in his hands. Are those drops you posted also easy drops or something they had to stretch out for and just couldn't grab. I expected more from you than that,
Obviously, the stats don't break them down that far. In which games did V-Shi drop those two easy TD catches?

How many has AD dropped in the last part of the season? Granted he's not a WR, but RB's are expected to catch balls as well.

My point is I always see people bashing players they don't care for for dropping passes, missing assignments or poor tackles, but when players they like do the same types of things, the purple shades come on & they don't even mention it.

    Very nice my friend.
I've looked for this data all year.
I knew they kept it as you see it used by the talking heads all the time.

Get me a QB in here next year that can throw the ball on target and on time CONSITENTLY and I will talk with you about the skills our recievers (To include RB's, FB's and TE's).

Until then we just don't know how good/bad thier are.

Another wildcard to think about is how many times last year and this year our TE's were used/kept in to protect "Futureboy" when our OL was still struggling with protection.
That alone will take reps and stats away from all recievers, to include RB's, and FB's.

I personnely like Shank and think he is a complete package.
Good blocker, fast and believe it or not, can catch the ball.

I'm gonna come back to this thread this time next year after "Futureboy" is warming the bench and our new QB has been throwing the ball all year.

What has he done that stands out to me? Dropped passes.

If we get a dangerous receiver, and teams still put 8 in the box, I could see Shiancoe being really successful with a single safety deep.

This team is headed in the right direction. All we need is one receiver, just one. Fitzgerald? First round draft pick? Randy Moss?

I really can't wait to see what this offense can do with
7 in the box so Peterson can run all-day, and set up those play-action bombs.... I expect to put up a lot of points when all of the pieces of the puzzle are in place.
    And consistent QB play.

Sometimes on here people think they are saying things correct about situations and play (i.e. up the gut) when in fact they aren't quite putting it correctly.

    I.e.
One of his easy "Drops" was really a catch followed up by a terrible job of pulling the ball in.
End result, CB knocked the ball out of his hands in the endzone.

Exactly! I've also considered the fact that T-Jack can put a lot of zip on the balls, much like that QB from GB who is on top of one of your non-flattering lists.

A lot of receivers aren't used to catching balls of that nature & much like in GB, they had to get aacustomed to it.

He already hit bottom. He can't help but improve. The question remains: is he worth the risk?

I would love it if Shiancoe has a great offseason, comes back next season and kicks butt. I just can't be optimistic as a simple fan who only sees the Vikes on gameday

I still contend that all the Receivers on this staff (WR, TE, RB etc) did what was expected of them.

Could they have elimnated a couple of drops when the opportunities to actually catch a ball were presented, sure, but damn, they must have been suprised that the ball even got to them in most cases because of "Futureboys" struggles.

Get me a QB that throws a consitent ball, on time and on target and these guys will do a good job.
Will they ever make us forget about Moss, Carter and Reid?
Probably not, but that isn't the type of team we are anymore.
