Re: Childress discusses Jackson - Frerotte may start
the problem is they dont open the playbook for jackson he has 3 throws the slant the bomb and the bootleg throw to the tight end.open up the offense and let him sling it.I wanna see him throw 30 balls.if he does well then keep doing it if he doesnt turn it over to frerotte and see how he does.with a running back like ad passing should be easy

sound like the same jiberish to me, but i guess since you said it, it cant be jiberish

You said "they have blatantly told him not to run". I said "Childress has no control over TJ taking off and running on broken plays". Hmmmmm I wonder who's statement sounds more like kaka del rio. You also ~messed up~ up the quotes. Who is sober?
but I agree TJ can run, but he's not suppose to.
If he escapes the pocket then he should look for an open receiver, but TJ just looks like he's thinking RUN as soon as he's out.

I feel like I only saw them run five or six different pass plays and that just does not get the job done.
That said ... I would not be totally against seeing Gus in there.

Re: Childress discusses Jackson - Frerotte may start
I couldn't agree more.
He feels like he can't do anything because he is limited by the play calling and the conditioning not to take dangerous passes.
Let him relax and be a QB.
He might impressIts better to lose the first game than the last one.

fact is, with childress offense, wrs dont have much time to get open, jackson doesnt have much time to survey the field, or wait for a wr to break open, and if nothing is there take off.
not enough plays are 7 step drops, too much is roll outs which both indy and green bay had played well in most occasions or 3 step drops and ball out.
our idea of giving wrs time to get open is the rollout which limits us to one side of the field and probably 2 pass options.
the game calling is flawed and not utilizing the things jackson may be able to do well.
all we see is this short passing game that hasn't worked with a bevy of different wrs, tes, and qbs.
one constant, childress.

now self destruction" that's enlightenment

Re: Childress discusses Jackson - Frerotte may start
Do you know why they havn't opened the playbook for TJackson? Cause he hasn't shown he can handle it. SIMPLE AS THAT. DONE DEAL.
You walk before you run and Tarvaris needs to show he can handle what's being given to him first. Seriously, the guy cannot operate the simple slant/hook plays yet. He continues to miss his target and when he does go deep, overthrows and underthrows. Now I'll admit he does have some pretty passes too but what the heck do they mean when it's 1 in 14 passes?
Do I want them to open up the playbook? Maybe...if their assessment is that Tarvaris is ready for it. Listen, these guys are constantly evaluating Tarvaris. They know his progress and they know what he can or can't handle. Remember when they told the media and all us fans that TJack wasn't ready to start and we all though they were hiding some golden secret to curing cancer by not starting the fellow? MAYBE, just maybe they do know what they're doing with this kid.
Either way, something does need to change because the way the Vikings are playing right now is not cutting it.
One more thing: Putting Ferrotte in is not going to "ruin" Tarvaris' career. He knows he's still a project and as long as Childress puts his word that Jackson is the future he'll be okay.Because I'm a Vikings fan, they are that much sexier.

Re: Childress discusses Jackson - Frerotte may start
I think Jackson is such a Jekyll and Hyde player. At times the guy looks great, but then he just does some very stupid things. At professional level, I would expect the qb to not try to throw a pass between 4 defenders. The guy definitely has the mobility factor, but as we all should know, that doesn't win games. Freotte doesn't have the ability situation, so he has to be more accurate on the passing. I sure hope they do something fast, because at this rate, we won't see the post-season again.
