But obviously Chilly can't figure out their strengths and weaknesses, so it takes the players to tell him.

With his job on the line, Chilly is now getting off his high horse and listen.

Let's just hope it's not too late.
Yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head there. He isn't slow, I just think he thinks so highly of his schemes and game plans that he doesn't think anyone else "Gets it"...

Too bad the jokes on him.

Re: Childress' confidence grows in Frerotte

i dont believe any of this crap.
is he letting ferrotte audible outta bad plays yet?
    not that i heard of.
and trust me, that very fact alone will end up costing us a big game.

listen, everybody and their mother knew we had to change the way the offense was being called.
people are gonna say it was this or gonna say it was that, but the bottom line was our offensive play calls were too much around the stacked boxes for us to really move.
he had to open things up a bit more.
its not to say that we are this totally different team, we still throw in the short passing game, i.e; the shitty 2nd half against houston.
but did he really have any choice but to change his offense?
not if he wanted to keep his job and make wilf feel like he shelled out big money for good reason.
i dont know if we are headed in the right direction, or if we are going what we should have been doing a while back.
we still got 8 games to figure it out.

What!? Asking your QB about what plays he likes to run? Brilliant

why not? I mean in no way am i comparing maddening to real life but do you call plays that u dont like? I know alot of plays that I hate and if the coach call it you have to run it unlike madden. Unless of course he audible but I think this is good for the team
    I was being sarcastic.

He keeps his game plan so secret that not even the players know what it is.

    Awesome.
That means we don't need to draft a QB with our 1st round pick!
Gus is the answer, Chilly is the man.

    Yep.
We just gotta keep getting Gus some reps, let him get some polish and development under him, and he'll be the quarterback of the future.

except, you know, the fact that Gus is 37 years old.
Gus is not the answer, we NEED to find ourselves a young quarterback, we can't just fill the hole with old vet QB's, remember back in the late 90's?
our 'solution' was old vet QB's and that didn't work for us (almost, with Cunningham, but damn that Denny Green/Gary Anderson) We need to find ourselves a franchise QB, and if that means taking one in the first round, then so be it.

Late 90's? Hell we were doing it back in the late 60's(Joe Kapp) and late 70's( Tark- Past his prime), in the 80's (Archie Manning) as well as all the way through most of the 90's( Moon, Cunningham, Goerge, McMahon to name a few. So basically you can expect to have Gus here until the Eagles want to discard McNabb. At that point they will call Childress and work out a deal for probably a first and 2 third round pick and 2 of our best defensive players to get him. That is the way we do business.

Re: Childress' confidence grows in Frerotte

I watched America's game recently about the Patriots superbowl win XXXVI, when Tom Brady took over from Drew Bledsoe. There were formations and play types that Brady didn't like or wasn't comfortable with and the team talked about those and how to best serve his strengths.

It worked out OK for them.
