Naw, don't be sorry. It is interesting and does bring to light some good questions about how or if the NFL can do such a thing. Somebody, like Jackyl may know.

I don't want Fowler to own the team....he doesn't have enough money to do it correctly...this could just end up being a case of "out of the frying pan, into the fire"...we need the NFL to force a sale to Taylor...he is probably the only one interested in the Vikings that will have the team's best interests at heart!

Yes, the NFL can step in. yes, they do own the team and it is THEIRS , but they own the team the same a private person can own a McDonald's franchishe... They have to operate within a structure and guidelines set forth by the parent company, or the parent company can buy it away.

    This is bs BTW

A guy on the KFAN board who has so called "connections" to some people on the Vikes coaching staff said this:

"Apparently red has been making plans to hurt the vikings team as much as possible before he officially loses ownership (including trading moss) because of hard feelings with the team, things unreleased that we don't know about. The NFL has enough evidence of this and has opted to shut down any further actions with the team effective at 5:00 central march 1. NFL comittee's are holding meetings to decide further actions, but the most likely to happen immediately is that tice will be in charge of of free agents and trading within limits until a final action has been decided. it looks like the NFL will put fowler on the speed track to buying the team because its the easiest solution to the problem, i'll post again if i get any more updates, i should be around for a lil while to answer some questions."

Another poster said he reported the same thing last week. Before you all discount this guys' credibility, I should say that he also called the Moss trade to the Raiders beforehand and some other things - he apparently has a good rep on the board.

    Interesting if true...

Do you have a link or any proof of this???

Yes exactly. Thats what I was trying to say (maybe clumsily lol) The NFL isn't going to step in and overrule an owner making bad trades. As long as he fields a team and spends what he is supposed to spend he can make all the bad decisions he wants to. Like the other owners care if the Vikes turn into the 49er's :P

He sucks, but he is no Bidwell

Well for my debut post here I would like to say ... Don't let the door hit you Red!!!! I f-ing hate Red as much as this next guy :angryfire: ... I am a Vikings fan because of the god awful ownership of the Cardinals - Bill "Piece of S--t" Bidwell - moving them from St. Louis despite sellout crowds for that loser team. I know wear my purple proudly and would love to finally have a team with a damn owner that I can be content with and boast about.

The NFL can do anything it wants to, when it comes to controlling an owner for a period of time. Let's Go Tagliabue and the owners association.
Things you would NEVER hear a Green Bay Packer fan say:
1."No kids in the back of the pick-up, it s just not safe."
2."I ll take Shakespeare for 1000, Alex."
3."Duct tape won t fix that."
    4."Checkmate."
5."Nope, no more for me. I m driving tonight."
