Charles Gordon excelled in so many roles in college that he didn't have a preferred position....
Re: Charles Gordon - Mr. Versatility hangs on
Gordon is going to send Whitaker packing, and will be a special team star, and dime corner if somebody gets hurt.

I don't understand why we've never seen him back returning punts or kicks.
He's similar in size to a Dante Hall, although probably not as fast or slippery.
I know he had a good career as a returner at KU.

He did? What was his average?
With the Vikings still trying to fill that spot as we into the 3rd pre-season game, you'd think they'd at least give him a shot at it.
This is how we fared so far this year.......

I did the average for 2005 (his last year) and it's 38/342 = 9 yards/return.
That's gotta be PR numbers.
Hmm.
I remembered those as being better.
Perhaps I'm just remembering some MensaTice propoganda, LOL.

Maybe the coaches know better than us
:o...here are Gordon's statistics from 2004 and 2005 at KU. Not sure if he's the answer or not; these stats would not indicate that he is, however, it is awhile ago.
Gordon was an all around star at KU, as the stats kinda elude to; he was certainly one of their best football players.
2004
2005

The link provided in the other post, said something about a sub par 40 time.
Maybe he isn't considered fast enough to be the best option.
Seems him and more are probably similar in speed, at least Moore looks like he is running sub par 40.
Re: Charles Gordon - Mr. Versatility hangs on
5 KR in two years?
When you consider KU plays in the Big 12, a KR should have a lot more returns than that.
Re: Charles Gordon - Mr. Versatility hangs on
At this point I'll take any of our other DBs over Whitaker.
