a great defense on it's own almost can win a championship... however, a high octane offense (like ours) with a middle of the road Defense (like with the teams carolina, tampa, or even the bengals) have a kick-as chance... st. louis was all offense and mid-defense when they won a bunch of superbowls...same with SF.

The year that the Bucs won the Super Bowl the had the #1 ranked Defense and the #24 Offense. I would say the Ravens championship year was about the same. This does not reflect a little of both.

The team with the owner that actually spends the money during free agency and has no cap room left at the beginning of the season! Not that there are any owners out there that don't spend the money! (sarcasm!)

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

Definitely great coaching. Great coaching would contribute to all the other categories.

Talent
Great teams have talented players and coaches. It usually takes money to get talent but not always. It takes talented coaching to take advantage of talented players.

Defense and Offense.
It takes a Defense that doesn't let other teams score.
The 2 of top 3 ranked D's were Miami and Redskins, based on yards allowed per game.
It is the Defenses like Pit and NE that allowed the fewest points that go on to the playoffs. And I think this comes down to good coaching of the D.
Also you must have an Offense that can score more points than the other team, unlike Baltimore the last two years.
