I'm by no means in favor of DUI, but to punish someone who realizes their making a mistake and immediately stops an action, I'm not sure that sits well with me.

You can get a DUI for being asleep in the backseat of a car with the keys in your pocket.

If you have access to the keys and are drunk in the car you can get a DUI.

I don't know what the laws are like elsewhere but I always heard here that if the keys were out of the ignition and in a cup holder or glove compartment or something you couldn't be arrested for DUI. That's kind of kaka del rio that they can arrest you for making a good decision and pulling over.

Yes, you can still be arrested. You can get a DUI for riding a skateboard drunk.

It has to be a motorized vehicle, i have heard of people getting a dui for riding a lawnmower while intoxicated but never a skateboard.

I dont know what state you are from and how the law is there but here in Minnesota I highly doubt that is the case.

I am not sure how the law is but I know a fella that will never be allowed to drive a vehicle again because of 7 dui's he has.
But he is allowed to drive a motorized bike as long as the engine is below a certain amount of cc's.

You dont drive a skateboard, you ride it.

nope, it doesn't have to be a motorized vehicle.
You can get DUI on a bike, that I know as a fact.

Damn that sucks, I just finished up with some community service and it sucks (picking up trash along the highway). It put a lot of stress on me back too, it was sore for about 4 days afterwards. At least he made a smart decision in pulling over.

I can't seem them cutting him loose, they tend to turn a blind eye to players that we NEED.
that, and Griffin was doing the "right" thing by sleeping it off.

It happened in August, I would think if something were to happen from this, we would have heard of something by now.

If Cedric Griffin was on the side of the highway or on the road not near a bar then it's obvious he drove there and then pulled over.
Again the laws in MN and in NJ could be different so who knows.

Actually, so long as the keys are accessible you're considered in control of the vehicle. They need to be out of sight and arms reach for you to be in the car while intoxicated.

Edit: In some states. New Jersey isn't one of them. But if you're in the drivers seat you'd be smart to not have your keys accessible.

This is true. On a bike you are granted the same rights as drivers on the road and therefore are subject to all duties of drivers on the road, and not being a drunk idiot is one of those duties.

I hadn't heard of it either...but this shows a bit of good decision-making on his part.

The incident occurred when Griffin pulled his car over to the side of Hwy. 5 in Eden Prairie because he didn't feel it was safe for him to continue on the road. Police saw Griffin's car and made the arrest after finding him inside.
