They FO knows what they are doing. They are bringing in young talent that fits their system.
I for one am fascinated watching their plan unfold as they shuffle around the pieces on this board they call the NFL.
I forgot this guy went to a Pro Bowl. That means something in my eyes.
I will say Cassel couldn't be any worse than Webb was at Lambeau.
Seriously, I'm sure he'll be an adequate backup. But he's been nothing special the past two seasons.
Here's the count for the past two seasons
Cassel 18 games, 58.8% comp pct., 3509 pass yds, 17 total TDs, 31 turnovers
Ponder 27 games, 59.2% comp pct., 4788 pass yds, 33 total TDs, 32 turnovers
Cassel's first year in KC, he threw 16 TDs and 16 INTs. Ponder was 18/12 last season. Cassel had the one good year in NE (with Moss and Welker) and the one 27/7 season (but only 3100 passing yards) in KC. Other than those two seasons, he's been mediocre at best. And that's with 8 years of NFL experience under his belt.
Don't care what Schefter or whomever said it, it has been refuted in direct quotes by Cassel, Spielman, etc....Cassel is strictly coming to back up Christian Ponder. There will be no competition for the starting QB position. It belongs to Ponder, and that's exactly how it should be. Ponder will have to play worse than last season for Cassel to even have a chance to see the field.
The Chiefs OL had him running for his life the last 2 years and to be honest they never were good when he was playing well.
