Re: Cassel or Quinn could be Vikings' next QB
I have stated about 100 times ... and I know a lot of you live in fantasy land out there ... but Quinn is UNTOUCHABLE. There is NO chance ... even with a Herschel Walker offer ... that the Browns let their golden boy go. They were thrilled that Anderson was good enough to keep them competitive for a year and a half, but by week 8 or so, Quinn will be their starter ... and will remain one for a LONG time.

Or is that just a jaded memory?
There have probably been more good QBs in this league the past few years than there had been for awhile.
Brady, Peyton Manning, Roethlisberger, Favre, Romo, McNabb, Brees...
Then you have some young guys that could be good in Cutler, Rodgers, Rivers, Edwards...
How many good QBs were there in the 80's and 90's?
Montana, Young, Favre, Moon, Marino, Elway, Kelly, Aikman, Esiason...
Seems about the same to me, although the two best have been slowed/stopped by injuries already this year.
And frankly, before the mid-70's the QB position was really not the same, with only a few that can be compared to modern players.
Also, the belief that Quinn is untouchable is probably very close to correct. When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

Re: Cassel or Quinn could be Vikings' next QB
Word is out....Childress has some super secret Div 2 prospect that he feels he can mold into the next Donovan McNabb. Speculation is that he will convince the organization to trade 2 early round draft picks in order to move up 3 spots in the 2nd round so he can draft this guy that no one else has ever heard of.

Why did this thread get started?
Webby said the QB issue is dead after Frerotte's amazing performance today.
Rock out with your cock out!!!

I agree.
The state of QB'in in the NFL is a sham.
Case in point, the Titans won tonight based on the crappy play of the opposing teams QB.
Romo is slinging it to almost anybody that wants to catch it etc etc etc.
Game managers seem to be the guy teams are looking for.
There are plenty of good QBs out there, you just need to find the right one to fit the right system.
People just see the freaks of natures like Brady and Manning and think that to be a good QB you need to be putting up 4 TDs a game and passing for 3 or 400 yards.
There are plenty of lunch box type QBs who get the job done.
I mean just look at a guy like Trent Edwards, plenty of QBs out there that just need a chance.
One guy who's finally emerging but didn't get a lot of fan fare is Jay Cutler.
He's gearing up to be a big time QB for years and years to come.

Re: Cassel or Quinn could be Vikings' next QB
Cassel hasn't shown anything to me to make me want hi for the Vikings yet. He's a "dink and dunk" passer who I haven't seen be consistant with the long ball yet. No thanks. Now the way he look now.

Re: Cassel or Quinn could be Vikings' next QB
I hope we go after some young pocket type passer and i dont really care how we get em....draft, fa or whatever. I just dont want to see anymore "athletic" type guys, give me a "read the defense and step up in the pocket"type. I would like to say about quinn.......I live a short drive from notre dame and have seen quinn play a few times (i know it just college).
He was always money against the average teams early in the year and caused the irish to be way over ranked.
From my memory he strugled in big games mightily.
I was at the game against USC when bush cheated and pushed leinart in the endzone.
I recall a few opportunities to take that game were missed.
Regardless, i hope they dont even try to get quinn. he's just a little meathead.
I put a sig on here before, but it expired?
Now i have tried again but seem to be retarded.......oh well,
Floop the bears!

Re: Cassel or Quinn could be Vikings' next QB
It doesn't matter who we get (if anyone), look at Chill's record "grooming" young qbs.
We should start his moustache cuz that's some of the best grooming he's done.
