Carter is the best WR ever
This is a response to a topic, people haven';t been reading and I wanted to make sure others saw this:
Well, I look at Jerry Rice, and to the naked eye, of course he is the best ever. But then I start analyzing and using more of my brain and I compare him with his nearest competitor - Cris Carter.
Carter, is Second to him in almost all reccords. But Rice has been playing Longer, and for the first 4 or 5 years of Carter's Career he was barely used.
Jerry Rice has worked with NFL MVP QBs all of his career in Gannon, Montana, and Steve Young. He has also been a part of team that has a very good supporting Cast (O-line, Defense, TE, another WR, Definately QB). A Cast that won many Superbowls.
Carter, worked with 3 times as many QBs as Rice. Including the Likes of Salisbary, Gannon (when he really sucked), McMahon (when he sucked), Warren Moon, and Spergon Wynn (for 4 games). The only Decent QBs he has been with he was with for only a year or 2. Daunte - on Daunte's awesome year. Next season Daunte gets hurt, plays hurt for most of the season. Johnson, 1 year, but Johnson as injury prone. Cunningham, one year, benched for Jeff George. George for 10 games.
Untill '98 Carter also had an average at Best Supporting Cast. Even if it was decent, it was nowhere near what Rice had. The only Season he had a better chance than Rice was '98 and he Had Moss and Reed still taking Psses away from him. What I am trying to say is that Carter was the primary Target for less years that Rice was.
Despite all these things dragging him down, he still puts up the totally aweome numbers he did. Numbers that are kinda far away from Rice, but still kinda close.
Just looking at numbers, Rice, Hands Down. But looking at what talent you had to have to acheive those numbers and what adversities you had to work through to get them, basically, based on the whole picture, Carter is the best. If you put a lot of thought into it, instead of blindly following the numbers, you would agree with me too. When it s all said and done, you ll have to admit we re number 1!
