Yeah, that it depressign (sic), and I didn't even watch it. Still, there were worse days for Vikings fans. Even if the Vikes had won that day and made the playoffs, do you think they would have made it past the first round? I do not.

So why exactly did you bring it up?

This is brutal to watch on TV, but to watch it on a video game, that just tears my heart apart. How did you get the rosters to change?

Re: cards vs vikings 03 depressign

This individual play changed my opinion on that particular rule.
What is a defenders option in that particular circumstance? The reciever has made contact with the ball, which should mean he's fair game to get blasted. In between the sidelines, the defender does it hoping to jar the ball loose, before the reciever hits the turf and is awarded a completion. On the sidelines however, he must take the gamble that if he blasts the player while he's in the air, he may award a completion by knocking a player out of bounds, because he has no way of knowing if the player would have actually have gotten one or both feet in bounds without juggling the ball, like in this particular play. The defenders are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
I was a reciever in high school, and still play in rec leagues here in Spokane, and I was always in favor of rules that furthered the advantage of the passing game, until this play. I now feel that the quarterback and reciever should be skilled enough to be able to complete a play within the bounds of the field. If you have to jump in the air, then the pass was high, and the reciever should thus be fair game, and the defense should be able to stop the play by whatever means possible, including pushing them out of bounds. Defenders can push recievers out of bounds when they don't have the ball, thus making the reciever unelgible to be the first player to touch the ball next. They can push a running back out of bounds at any time they want, but not a reciever who has caught the ball in the air and can't get down on the turf in time? Not fair for the defenders.
