Calling Canton: Peppers, Allen and sacks

Sack totals alone, no matter how high, don't guarantee enshrinement.

Allen was rated as the No. 4 pass-rusher but didn't receive a single vote for best defensive player.

I for one think JA's biggest problem is that he isn't that good at "Run Recognition" at times. Either that or the D-coord was calling for him to rush the passer when a running play was on....

If he can get over that hump, and do a better job against the run, maybe he will be able to get into Canton.

I gotta wonder if a guy like Freeney will get consideration.

he has the pure numbers, but like that link says, since 2004 Allen leads the league in sacks, with 13 more than Freeney. Freeney's 10.44 sacks/season is less than Allens 11.8, and I truly do believe Freeny is one of the worst run-stopping DE's int he league. The guy is 100% pass and finesse, part of why I think the Colts D is so prone to breakdowns.

no denying he is one of the better pass rushers of the past couple decades, he's not nearly the complete player that some other notable players are.

I'd take a Michael Strahan over Dwight Freeney 10 times out of 10
