Season openers aren't always an accurate preview of what's to come.
Yet Vikings fans wondering what to expect out of the team's unproven offense this season probably did get a realistic glimpse of how 2007 is likely to play out in Sunday afternoon's 24-3 victory over Atlanta at the Metrodome....
Re: Bursts of talent give fans hope despite inconsistent offense
Tarvaris said it best,"We just have to finish drives," Jackson said. "We try to pride ourselves on putting the ball in the end zone instead of settling for three and stuff like that. Throughout the whole drive, we just have to try and execute the offense and get the ball into the end zone."
Against Detroit the offense needs to score touchdowns, I say we will need at least 3 offensive touchdowns. We are just a touch away from getting some big plays. We will see. I like the defense scoring, and am looking for more of it, but they will also give us short field oppurtunities, and we must convert 2/3 into TouchDowns...
Re: Bursts of talent give fans hope despite inconsistent offense
I think our offense will get better as the season progresses.
It is never going to be a juggernaut offense like we had in 98, but if it can get 4 or 5 scoring drives every game.
That would be a great improvement.

well as the old saying goes.. practice makes perfect..
the mroe we see these plays on the field in GAME TIME and not just practice field the more they will be comfortable and all over the plays and in the endzone!!
come on O!!!

Alot of Talent sits in this offense. I have a feeling its not gonna be boring at all this season. Now that anticipation mounts as we wait another 5 days so we can witness more.
man I dislike waiting for the weekend.

Do you consider the Colts and Patriots offenses as juggernaughts?
I do and they basically run a version of the WCO that IMHO we are trying to learn how to run.
I already posted this same information earlier from the Colts display on how to run the WCO so I will only bother to take a bit of time to show you how the Pats do it.
Patriots Scoring drives
Take a close look at the data in the links.
You will see alot of passes that are short right, short middle, short left.
These lead to the long passes later as the defense starts cheating up trying to stop those quick passes and the run.

That my friends is how the WCO softens up a defense which in turn sets up the deep passes.
Are we there yet?
No, will we see it this year?
IMHO yes, but we will see some growing pains as the boys get the reps they need to get this KAO going.
All we need to do is be patient my friends.
;D
