    Bud Grant on Vikings payroll

    Did anyone hear about dis? I didn't see it posted anywhere. It's by Sid Hartman of da Star Tribune....

    ===============================================

    Vikings President Mark Wilf made it clear that Grant is going back on the Vikings payroll for the first time since his coaching days and that the former coach will be an important consultant for the Wilf family, just as he was in the hiring of Childress.

    ===============================================

    Hey, welcome back Bud! Glad ta see yas again!!!

    I think that was implied in Childress' induction speech. He referred to Bud and something about not getting any advice for free because he knows that NFL coaches get enough of that. Bud will probably be receiving consulting fees on an as needed basis.

    What do you mean, "welcome back"? Bud has been a consultant for years in the front office.

    He must be getting paid "full time" for it now. I assume he was getting paid on an "as needed basis" when he was used.

    Perhaps his role will increase with all the new changes.

    Why not hire Bud back as Coach. I'm sure he is much better at his age than most will be ever. Although Childress seems like the real deal. I hope he is as they claim, disciplinarian. That is what the Vikes have needed for years.

    And I hope that he doesn't continue to baby Daunte as the past coaches have. If he is stinking, sit him down and make him learn. He is not an elite QB. Maybe has the talent, but not the brains.
