Bryant McKinnie Contract Breakdown
To Whom it may concern:
Here is a look at the breakdown of the offer made by the Minnesota Vikings to Bryant McKinnie. McKinnie was offered a $13.1 million dollar contract over 5 years. This breaks down to $2.62 million per year for the length of the contract. Ryan Sims signed a contract for $16.2 million but for 6 years , which averages to $2.7 million per year. Roy Williams signed a contract for $13 million but over 7 years giving his yearly rate at $1.86 million per year.
In terms of the guaranteed signing bonus per years of the contract Sims $9.8 million ($1.63)/year , McKinnie $8.1 million($1.62)/year and Williams $9.3 ($1.33)/year.
As you can see although Bryant McKinnie's signing bonus is not as high as either Sims or Williams, because the length of the contract is for 5 years instead of 6 or 7 years as with Sims or Williams, he is getting the fair amount of money for the 7th slot in the draft. Besides he will achieve free agency quicker in his career. These numbers were reported in the USA TODAY Newspaper dated October 10th, 2002. It would appear that Bryant McKinnie simply doesn't want to play football for the Vikings period. Please forward this e-mail to any and interested parties concerning the McKinnie holdout.
