I was impressed with his production coming into the defensive QB role under fire. Asset to the team.

I love this kid, I think he did a great job coming in and playing MLB, basically captain of the Defense.
I am NOT here to provide good football insight or rational observations. I am an emotional 19 year old Viking fan and I expect you to adjust your expectations from my posts.

I believe Leber took over the captain role, or at least the defensive signal calling, when Henderson went down. Not sure though.

Don't get me wrong, I think Brinkley did a great job and hope to see more of him in the future... but I don't think he was captain of the defense.

Definitely not the captain. He did a good job. Like any rookie he had his weaknesses too, I think if he could up his pass coverage skills, he could be a pretty damn good linebacker for us. He's a beast against the run though.

And yes, Leber took over captain and playcalling duties. He had the headset in his helmet. Brinkley was there for the ride.

Not sure about the whole "Capt" thing, but this isn't the first article that said the following:

The Vikings said Brinkley did a solid job in making the pre-snap calls to get everyone positioned properly.
Makes me wonder what info you have that they don't have with respect to play calling......

Maybe he wasn't the captain but it seems like I've read several articles that said that Brinkley had at least some role in the play calling duties, maybe I'm wrong.

well, I have quotes from Childres and Fraizer, saying Leber would be wearing the green dot on his helmet. I'm not sure why Brinkley would become the captain.. just because he's MLB? Highly unlikely they'll give some rookie kid captain duties when there's some great vets on our defense like Leber, Winfield, K/P Will, Allen or even Greenway.

    after some research
As for how the defensive calls will be made, here's how I understand it: Jasper Brinkley, who will play middle linebacker in base situations, will set the defensive alignment when he's in the game. However, veteran Ben Leber will wear the helmet with the radio that receives the defensive calls from the sideline. Leber will then either relay information to Brinkley, or if the Vikings are in the nickel package it likely will be Leber in the middle with Chad Greenway as the only other linebacker on the field.
Leber had the radio, and Brinkley called the alignments pre-snap.

Based on what you just provided, the only time Leber called the plays was in the Nickle when Jasper wasn't in there.

That kindof tracks with what I remembered reading.

    Thanks.
