If you revisit Carroll's statements for that he did mention Flynn hurt his elbow in preseason/camp-competition and when Wilson hit some bumps in the road mid season Carroll also said he wouldn't sit Wilson for Flynn cause Matt still was having pain when he was throwing.

Don't have to revisit. He OBVIOUSLY said those things because he had to make some reason to avoid the questions while starting HIS MAN.

Everyone knew that Flynn was good to go and Carroll chose Wilson. He said those things to try and protect Flynn's ego in case he needed him.

He never once said Flynn would be starting under any circumstance other than Wilson being hurt.

The bottom line to this whole discussion is if Teddy lights it up in the practice/pre-season, there is a good chance he will start day 1 (ala Wilson). If he needs more time, Cassel will be our QB; I just desperately hope we don't rush the process.

The kid will either be ready or he won't. We don't have to put the pressure on him if he isn't, and we shouldn't.

    Period.

You can't get acclimated to the speed of the league and to getting hit without reps. Young Qbs are suppose to make mistakes. Let them take their lumps and make mistakes. I want to see how he responds from an INT or fumble. Does he sulk, does he rally the troops. Will guys respect him and improve his their play. These are things that being a starter shows you about your QB. Sitting holding a clipboard doesnt.
I don't think our Oline has improved enough to guarantee Cassel won't miss some time this season, but I would be fine with him riding the pine this season and getting accustomed to the speed of the NFL game. It didn't hurt Rodgers. If he picks it up this year, we probably will see him. I think we can win this division anyway with Cassel. Last year the North turned out to be pretty bad.
And to go along with the gun example,
You don't want someone hunting with you until he has learned to use a gun safely. Otherwise you end up out there with a Chaney. :-)
Why must you defend everything this FO does....to the point of making your self look like a yes man.

bridgewater will be expected to start

I think wit tha o we have and hopefully a much improve D i could see TBW starting ain't like we gon need tha kid to throw the ball 40/50 times a game. And Wilson have a good supporting cast in SEA and really tha vikings run that same type of o just missing tha d part so if Zimmer can bring a top 5 d here i see any QB have success wit tha vikings,

Lol. Yeah but i think QBs have to be on the field. They need the scenerios anyone can talk it, but it feel different when people are trying to rup your head off.

Start him against 1st team defenses in the preseason. That should answer some questions.

It's not like he isn't going to be learning at training camp and meetings. Seems like a smart guy who has the drive to work. Can't ask for anything more from a rookie who hasn't seen the field yet.

i think our o line will be good this year ...there might be more than one changed ...cant wait to see what zimm does ....i think if he looks the part he starts ...its not like he will get destroyed back there ...i can see us running a lot eary in the season to take some pressure of teddy ....the best vway to learn is under center ...we have the best back in the leaguea big target at TE and a savy vet in jennings c patterson is explosive ..all this should help ...get the reps ...and if he is riding the pine he isnt getting the reps with the first team in practice ...so push him to start

Looks like if TB continues to grow he could get the start. Liking what I'm seeing this off season.

My brother and I were talking yesterday afternoon, and his suggestion sounded similar to yours. He suggested that we give TB 1 to 2 qtrs. of action in preseason games, including play against first-team defenses. See how he progresses. That should determine who should start in Game 1 of the regular season.
