I think Barr and Bridgewater are both solid picks with upside. Don't understand the negativity here. I think we did well in the first round. We helped our defense and if Bridgewater wears his glove we helped our offense.

Sigh of relief that we didn't fall into the Johnny Football hype. Smart draft. Bridgewater is the best QB in this draft as far as a pro system ready QB. Our offense was 13th and our defense last in 2013. Getting an ass kicker LB sure ain't gonna hurt. Sure we need a CB, but we needed a LB too. A+ draft and went better than I expected. Bridgewater is a football player- he will get used to the cold. Here's hoping he takes us to the Super Bowl when it's played in Minny! Can't wait to watch Johnny get his di_k knocked in the dirt in Cleveland.

These two draft picks are really boom or bust... we can only wait and see.
Personally, I don't have a good feeling about Bridgewater. Just a gut feeling... or maybe it's the fact that Spielman has never drafted a viable QB ever. Ever.
Ever.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Bridgewater thought it was cold in Louisville, can't wait to see him at TCF come december... Im guessing this is the last first round QB RS will be drafting for the vikings..

I think its pretty clear that Cassel is our QB for this year and probably next as well. The only thing that will change that is injury.

I am kind of on the same page as you here.
I don't really mind the picks. I think we could end up very happy. But I also think that it is entirely possible that in three years neither of these guys are starting and it looks pretty damn bad.
I like Bridgewater. All of the tape and the numbers suggest he should be good. But I don't trust his head. You are a head case if you cannot look good on your Pro Day. It is really that simple.
I disagree with the assertion some have made that Bridgewater will sit for two years. There is NO DOUBT he HAS to be the starter by game one 2015 for this to be a good pick.

Almost all draft picks are boom or bust- they can either play or they can't, period. Bridgewater doesn't have to start day one but he will when Norv and Zim thinks he is ready. Don't understand the negativity for Bridgewater- he is the best QB in the draft. Bortles? Nope. Manziel? Seriously? There is a reason he fell to 22.

Personally, I don't have much of an opinion on either of them and I can't do much about it other than hope our guy becomes the guy we need. So that's what I will do, until proven wrong.
I heard this morning that Cleveland spent $100k getting an analytic report done on the top QB's and Bridgewater came out as the clear favorite. I also heard that both MN and Cleveland were actively trying to trade into the 22nd spot to get Manziel and Cleveland outbid the Vikes. And the topper was that the speculation was that the owner (Haslem) had fallen in love with Manziel and drove them to make the pick.
