Starting cornerback Brian Williams (sprained knee) did some running Saturday and could be back for the final exhibition game Sept. 2 at Seattle, Tice said.
This is good news guys without him it could be really scary, hes young and coming on very well, he had a great year last year and should have an even bigger one this year. I like Irvin and think hes a good cover man but we need Williams to be our starter. It was a scare at first some reports made it sound like there was some ligament damage but i guess he's doin real well. I would rest him for the seatle game and bring him back into practices leading up to the Dallas game, just to be sure his sprain has healed. I'm so glad this injury isn't worse, I love to watch the guy play, hes my favorite player on defense.

Thats good to know, hes especially needed week two in 100 percent and not 80 percent if he wants to own owens on mnf like he did last year against the whiners.
Cant wait to see our duo of williams and winfield out there.

I hope he is back at 100% as soon as possible cause our back-ups are not looking that good, we need some help!

Please, Vikings brass, give Williams the extra week off to heal up completely...do not rush him back! I might even see sitting him out week 1 against the Cowboys. We cannot afford to have Williams miss a bunch of time if he aggravates the injury.

Yeah very true, when we start playing teams like the lions who have big fast recievers we'll need him.

yeah i think either way he should not play until the real week 1

I'd say rest him until week one (vs Dallas) and then maybe even have him be the nickel back and let Irvin start. This way it will allow him to ease back into playing time and keep him from reaggravateing his knee. If we need him to play every down that game he could always come in, I just hope he gets as much rest as he can.

Even if he did play the last preseason game, starters typically only play a series or two in the last preseason game. I still don't want him to risk reinjuring his kneee again, but if he does play, at least it will only be for about a series.

Tice said he would be out until the dallas game and then would see action only as a nickel back maybe
