Vikings defensive end Brian Robison, who will back up Jared Allen on the right side, hasn't given up on his other athletic pursuit.

Training for power and explosion to shotput, should transfer nicely to a DE, spring like explosion, and lower body strenght for a DE to bull rush, or a speed rush is a great asset.
Wouldn' it be cool to see Brian in the Olympics. 8)

I really do think that Robison is the real deal.
He is that special athlete who has the hunger and the drive to suceed.
And imagine he landed to us in the 4th round!!! Do not be surprised if he becomes a pro-bowl DE a few times in his career.
(I know, I've become Mr. Positive as the season nears. LOL)

I like Robison alot. In fact, I would have been content with him as a starter if Allen didn't come here. That being said, I would like him to focus on his day job.

Either way you look at it, if he competed in the Olympics, it is a good thing.

Some may say he isn't concentrating on his football career, but I say it would be cool to see him as an Olympian.
It is an honor and it is patriotic.
I also say he is a real competitor to want to succeed at the shot put.
It isn't a glamorous sport but he wants to compete. It would be different story if it was right in the middle of the season.
I wouldn't get into a heated argument on this topic until he would actually qualify for the spot to go.

Would it be legal to shotput a smaller and quicker DB over the O Line to get to the QB?.... ;D

i think robison can be a really good player, and what i really want to see is him become as effective as lance johnstone was on 3rd downs for us
People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

Robison definitly showed promise as a Rookie I was especailly impressed with his knack to cause turnovers. He's got some great speed and like others said he has great desire just like a number of players drafted in the Childress Era. I would like to see them cross train him to play LDE but Frazier said they would like him to remain RDE. If Ray Ray doesn't work out it would be fun to see JA/Robison Combo.
