Breaking Packer News from the A.P.
AP Newswire: Green Bay, Wisconsin
11/22/05 11:48 CST
Fans of the Green Bay Packers football team are grieving the loss of a season, and possibly their leader. Another Minnesota Viking last second field goal proved to be the final nail in the coffin of what was a once proud franchise.
The Packer's will be lying in state at the South end zone of Lambeau Field from 12:00-3:00 p.m. every Sunday through December. Green and Gold attire is requested. The family is requesting that any wreaths or floral arrangements be presented prior to 12:00 so that they may be properly displayed.
These viewings have been available by the Wisconsin Dairy Association. This was arranged with the thought in mind of providing the people of Wisconsin with an area large enough to accommodate them with an expression of sorrow, and in part due to the overwhelming response upon receiving the news of last nights score.
The media is welcome to attend. Music will be provided by the Youpper's. Other musicians interested in performing should call the ticket office for availability of remaining time slots.
The Association has decided to have the Packer's casket open for viewing. Viewing will be made public during the next 6 weeks on Sunday. It is a special time for people to express their sympathy, and this will allow people that personal experience. However, it is the Association's express wish that no still cameras, video or audio recording devices be allowed in the stadium. We ask for your kind and considerate cooperation in regards to this matter.
The eulogy will be provided by Lindy Infante, with a recorded gospel message from the late Reggie White.
The ceremonial scattering of ashes will take place on the shores of Green Bay in January. It was Vince Lombardi's express wish that in the event that these circumstances were to unfold, the association would make arrangements to facilitate the cremation of the 2006 season tickets, and scatter them at the grave site of his late brother, Henry "Skippy" Lombardi, which is located on the South shore of Green Bay.
After the last day of viewing, a pot luck lunch will be held at Fuzzy Thurston's Bar in Green Bay from 3-6p.m. on Sunday, January 1st. Beer and Brats will be provided, along with cheese and crackers. Attendees are encouraged to share their favorite Brett Favre story and bring their favorite tailgating dish.
For those who are not able to attend the funeral but would like to send their condolences or express their sympathy by mail, please send memorials/gifts to:
