That sully, Coop and Cook all suck?

He's not the only one who thinks that.
And this kid is gonna beat them out. Comeon bleed, you know more about the game than a post like that.
    Not htis season, no.

But a C taken in the sixth can certainly turn into a good player.

    When was Birk taken?

I'm not holding out on him working, but I do like the pick.
We have 2 zone blocking centers on the roster. You are the GM and the coaching staff has told you they are going to go away from the ZB scheme and need a starting C.

What do you do? Draft a guy that will fix that problem next year?

    WOW.
There's only a finite amount of high draft picks in the draft.

What do you want? These are sixth round picks. we take a bunch of players, I suspect three or more of these guys won't make the roster this year.

There aren't a hwole lot of Centers that will come in and start day one. We have to take them fairly early, and IMO we had more important needs/better players available. We needed to go QB early, and although I don't think we need Rudolph, I do think he will be a very good player for us.

You see, if we had our third, we could maybe get a G/C that could start, but we don't.
So package a pick with this one and move up and get someone who will make the team.
would be pointless, considering we traded down to get htis pick.

We gave up our fifth for two sixths. What would you recommend we do, trade our two sixths for a lower fifth? That would be stupid.

    Birk: 6th
    Christy: 4th
    Kirk Lowdermilk: 3rd
    Dennis Swilley: 2nd

Last but not least, probably the greatest Vikings center ever...

    Mick Tingelhoff

He went UNDRAFTED & was signed by the Vikings as a FA

Shocking, do you mean to say that late round linemen can work out very well?
    Sure they can

late round linemen can be a bust also.

Early round linemen can be a bust or work out very well too.

The draft is a crapshoot. Until we see what any of them can do at the pro level, it can go either way.

Now you guys, Singer especially, are going to bring that? Steve, above all others is never happy when we bring in guys like this. He only wants top round talent.

    Gimme a break.

Look I hope the kid winds up being the next Birk. I really really do. But the logic behind this makes no sense. Why not take the best C when you had him available?

They're doing exactly what you claim they need to do. Sticking to their board.

They're going BPA, regardless of position.
    Cliche'......

Tell me how a TE was the BPA when the best Center was still on the board.

If we did that how would we be able to get your 'warpig' DT?!

Because according to Spielman, they were getting calls to trade down, but they felt Rudolph was a talent they just couldn't pass up so they had to take him.

I guess they thought the best TE was better than the best C.

LOL, So when your sitting there with no third round pick, you couldn't package the fifth, you just traded down from, and a 7th and move up?

Focus and stay with me here. I'm talking about getting someone earlier, long before this pick was made (or the 5th was traded).
