Brandon Fusco, C
CDSStrengths: Owns NFL size and strength for the pivot. Solid anchor in pass protection. Good athleticism to reach block, stay engaged on the move in zone scheme. Quick to the second level whether uncovered or combo-blocking, uses his length to lock up linebackers and move them wherever he chooses. Will hit multiple targets. Takes good blocking angles. Already has fair strength to turn defenders out of the hole, and should catch up in strength and conditioning during his rookie season. Resets his hands on the move, mirrors defenders to keep them out of the backfield.
Weaknesses: Does not always dominate Division II defenders despite his size and athleticism advantages. Will out-quicked off the snap on occasion, though he uses his long reach to redirect the defender. Stands too tall, must bend his knees to anchor and stay balanced against stronger and quicker NFL defenders. Needs to trust his foot speed when heading into the second level instead of lurching at targets. Must learn to stay low in short-yardage situations and bring more power in his drive-blocking.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Brandon Fusco, C
CDSStrengths
Big, smart and physical. Exceptional size for a center, he has long, strong arms that he uses to dominate opposing defenders. Once he 'locks down' it is difficult for the defender to break get around him. In run blocking uses leverage to get under the defender and move him out of the hole - willing and able to make downfield blocks as well. Good balance and footwork in pass protection; able to extend arms and lock-out against the bull-rush. Noted by coaches and teammates as leader and strong-off season worker.
Weaknesses
Only played center since '07, so a case could be made he can use more experience. Not particularly fast which may present an issue when he is asked to pull. From D-2 there will always be questions of competition level - which he can put to rest as he will face D-1 talent at either the Shrine or NFLPA Game in the post-season.
Projection
5th round.

But a C taken in the sixth can certainly turn into a good player.
When was Birk taken?
I'm not holding out on him working, but I do like the pick.
