Boo birds in the dome? Donkey Butts IMO.

OK, what is wrong with some of the fans here in Minnesota?

In the first half (the first half!) the boo birds were out in force in the 'dome.
What kind of home field advantage is this?
    We are winning games people.
They may not be pretty, but we are winning.

Just before half time, we got the ball back on our own 11 yard line with 25 seconds left on the clock.
It was 10-3 at this point.
So what is the smart thing to do?
Run the damn clock out, go into half time down by just a touch, and get the ball back - with better field position - after halftime.
On the first play, that is exactly what Childress started to do.
He ran Taylor around the right guard for a six yard gain.

    And what happens?
The crowd at the dome erupts in boos.
Apparently they would rather see last second herioc deep ball plays that could just as easily bring us into half time down by 14 as it could tie the game.
    Come on people.
Pull your heads out and look at our team.
That may have been possible in 98 and 04.
But with our current corps of recievers, an OL that is just starting to gel, and a QB who does't have the accuracy on the long ball, play calling like that loses ball games.

    Don't get me wrong.
I am not satisified with our offense right now either.
But to start booing our team when it is still early in the game, and we are still very much in it... It is dissapointing to say the least.

I would have boo'ed that performance yesterday also.

Not in those situations, but there was plenty of opportunities to do so.

To win is one thing, to have to rely on two "D" scores to win, late in the game is something completely different.
We played down to two lesser opponents the last two weeks, it must improve or below .500 we will be.

    I noticed that too.
It isn't surprising at all though, look at many posters on this site whining about everything after a W.
Can you imagine what would have happened if it was an L?

Everyone has the right to critque their favorite team and demand excellence when they are spending their dime to support the team.
It is surprising to me that people were booing when you mentioned also.
The part that isn't surprising is that many people refuse to use their own brain and they follow the lead of the press or some moron that starts a movement.
This trend goes deeper than people following sports.

Unless my team does something really disgracefull, I don't like fans boo'ing their own team.

    But maybe that's just my.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Re: Boo birds in the dome? Donkey Butts IMO.

We caught some bad breaks in the first half, I think it was just frustration.

It should have been 10-5 at this point, maybe we should have been winning, that safety call really hurt us, and Im shocked there wasn't more to be said about it. We were down and continued to run draw plays on 3rd and 7-8-9, or run the ball on second and inches, there's no reason to not throw an intermediate or deep pass on 2 and nothing if you've been running the ball well all day. Continually running 4-5 yard routes and relying on a broken tackle to get the first down? Why not bump the route out another 2-3 yards?

We play way too conservative and thats why people were booing.

The defense looked amazing, and was FAR from conservative with all the blitzing, but the offense is the exact opposite, and I think if we turned around our offensive philosophy a little bit, started throwing some 15-20 yard routes, some deep balls in there once in a while, to keep good defenses on their heels, all the boo birds will go away, and every team in the league would fear this team.

The DOME has been that way whenever I have been there.
    Quick on the boo birds.
Like Mr. Anderson said, it wasn't that play or series.
That is frustration for a culmination of events.

    I don't blame them.
It is time that The Big Chill's grace period ends, and we treat him like every other coach.
I know this won't make him a better coach.
It probably won't hurt his feelings either.

Basically, the boo birds are saying, "please bring the crowd back around into this game, you are losing us fast here, resuscitate the fans please."

In addition....................... We were playing one fo the worst teams in the NFL, hence their 0-5 record.

    It was frustration.

If the boo birds are out, I can bet the players are already feeling what....evvvv....errrr disappointment was in the air prior to the boo bird coming out.

Sometimes the boos are earned...plus, we DID cheer almost the whole Chicago game...only to get let down in the end by a critical mistake!
    Payback is a beeyotch!!!

BUT we only boo because we care!
    ;D
