Re:Bob Sansevere: Ryan Longwell talks field goals
By the way ... just to let you know you are still completely delusional ... here is Longwell's ONLY game as a Vike against the Dolphins:
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200611190mia.htm
In this contest he nailed a 35- and 19-yard FG. Hardly believe they panned to Carter in the crowd and saw him mouth "He can't hit this"

Re:Bob Sansevere: Ryan Longwell talks field goals
In 2006, Longwell had a game long 35 yards against the Dolphins. I really don't think CC doubted his ability to make that kick (especially since he wasn't even on the Vikings then)
In 2002, gary Anderson made a 53 yarder against the dolphins. This would be the kick you are thinking of.
However, I call shenanegans, CC wasn't a Viking in 2002 either, although he was a dolphin, so unless they panned to CC in a dolphins Uni...

Not with Carter as a Dolphin ... did they pan to Carter sitting in a luxury box or something?midgensa wrote:
Nope, two different kicks.Marrdro wrote:
Uh ... that was not Ryan Longwell, that was Gary Anderson in 2002 - a full FOUR seasons before Longwell got here.i_bleed_purple wrote:
LOL, just posted the link. Another instance comes to mind, we were playing the Dolphins and we trotted ole Shortwell out for a long one, camera cuts to Cris (Dead to me Carter) and you see him mouthing......He can't make one that far.....really? because outside of 50 he's been dead on. Franchise record. Glad we grabbed him. I'll gladly take his "short" kickoffs that "only" go to the 5 for his clutch kicking.
Course, much to my (and CC's suprise) he made it. :woohoo:
Guess your hate means you think Longwell missed the 1998 NFC Championship kick too?
Why would Carter even be there? Why would he doubt he could hit a 35-yard kick?
Your mind has definitely confused it with the Carter/Anderson kick because that one has been played a million times.

And instead of saying this ... he is hell bent on arguing his way out of it ... which is similar to the way he makes up his mind on a player immediately and then cannot change it.
I.E. our QB and our K for instance.

Again, for the umpteenth time, props to him for doing whatever to increase his leg strenght. It isn't enough for me to say that I want to rely on him to make a FG to beat the Aint's.Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I know his stats ... I already looked them up and told you about them.
I also called you out for making up a Cris Carter story.
I also we tell you to look at 2007, 2008 and 2009 stats because 2006 is SOOOO three years ago.
He is one of the best kickers in the game right now (leads the league in FG percentage) and we have no reason to doubt his ability.
If it came down to a 53-yard FG in a dome for the NFC Championship game, I would be nervous no matter who was kicking it, but I would feel fairly confident in Longwell.

Hell, I even said I put more trust in the Noodle. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I saw your article. Whoopty-fucking-doo ... he had trouble with long field goals THREE YEARS ago ... what does that have to do with today? Nothing!
I did not argue that he had trouble with them in the past ... he clearly did.
And yes ... I am hell bent on arguing because it is fucking ridiculous that you think of a "clever" little nickname for the guy and decide that he can do NOTHING to change your mind about him no matter what.
He CLEARLY does not have problems with long field goals anymore, yet you keep stating he does. He clearly has improved his kickoff distance, yet you will not acknowledge it.
He clearly NEVER kicked a long field goal against the Dolphins where they panned to Cris Carter for any reason, yet you will not back off of that.
So yes ... I will call you out on bullshit every step of the way. Just because you have an "article" from however long ago about his PAST problems with long field goals does not mean it has any relevance today.
