To blitz, or not to blitz?

We blitzed the crap out of Phillip Rivers yesterday. I think that was one of the keys to slowing down their passing game. This approach could backfire against an experienced QB like Favre. Then again, the last time we played him we played a lot of the zone stuff and let him pick us apart. Would blitzing more improve the situation or make it worse?

I don't much about football, so I say BLITZ!!!
    Halo 4. Start another fight.

Re: To blitz, or not to blitz?

i said blitz, cuz i just want to see farve get hit

but i think it will be harder to get to him becuase they run a lot of quick, short passes... but if we do get to him he will make some mistakes...

i really liked how we actually ran some dime, with tank williams coming in.. hopefully we run some dime agianst the pack

I say we BLITZ! maybe not as much as we did on Rivers but on critical 3rd downs we gotta get in Favre's face......Robison and EJ Henderson should both get a sack.

Speaking of Henderson....did you guys see him SUPERMAN into Rivers yersterday. That man is an ATHLETE and suprisingly one of the better LB's in the league right now.

    tb0412 nice sig!

You can say blitz is better ,cause we played it
great yesterday, but we also used it against other teams and that didn´t work at all.
It all depends on the opp Qb, DL and most of all in our players.
We have played during the season some prevent D. and I d say we are a better "pressure" D than "covering" D.You have to play the best or easy way for your players to do it well, blizt has worked sometimes
    a "covering"D very few times...

    Front 4 isn't putting pressure

The front 4 can stop the rush better than any in the NFL, but they don't seem to get to the QB.
    Thus, blitzing is necessary.
Without the blitz the DB's are hung out to dry when the QB has all day to pass.

Leber and EJ both are great blitzer's.

Vikes don't have to be afraid of GB's running game.
Thus, put in the nickle and dime, blitz Leber, Henderson, and or Sharper.
The best part is they do a great time at run blitzing.

    Rattle Farve a bit!
I know it's hard to do.
Kevin needs to take a page out of J. Randle's and maybe throw in a late hit (not to hurt no knees or head, just a good hard push in the chest) early in the game to let Farve know he's coming after him FULL THROTTLE.

I don't think the Vikings blitzed as much as people believe yesterday.
Ben Leber was quoted as saying something like that it looked like they were blitzing, but they were really just bringing people from strange angles - and dropping some linemen into zone coverage in the middle.

Blitzing Favre is a bad idea, IMHO.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

    True.
But when we did blitz it was effective.

We just need to get consistant pressure on Favre.
Throw in the occasional blitz and we get some classic Favre "up for grabs."

    I like putting
some reasons(rigth or wrong;usually the last one) before saying something ,If you are so interested I tell Blitz, but always is more important and interesting the way to arrive to a conclusion than the conclusion itself .dont you think?
